Description
And he plays bamboo flute a little too.

So here's my very first recording of me playing it. It's something I made today in order to take a break both from working on a more involved piece - a new collab - and to. . well, say put a balm on my soul as I'm going through challenging times lately.

It's a small thing I made around a simple folksy chord progression I found myself playing recently. I's a color I've always liked. I used a capo to fit the flute's key, added some flute - which actually first starts on its own in the mix - and then, for good measure, I soloed also on classical guitar for a while.

So, for those of us who, like me, could use a little gentleness. . .

Enjoy.

WOw ..what an impressive flute sound ...very spiritual ...the sense
of the wood all in it ...very gentle and delicate theme ...its magic
I always loved this combination of Guitar and flute ...you did it
at its best ...what a gem ....thnx alot for sharin !!!!
Boundless said 172 days ago (June 7th, 2009)
Wow - you're fast !
Yes, that flute has a sweet sound. And I also like the woodiness of it - over even the metal flutes. Got it as a gift from that flute player friend of mine - the one who plays in the India Jam series.

Glad you enjoyed it, Feter.
Thanks for your
continuous
support.

Helped me find my chewy carmel center:
This is either magic or I've gotta see a doctor about this, but as I listened to the first minute or so, staring at the song art, I could swear it was "gently undulating" just a little bit. I'll chalk it up to my irises adjusting, but this is still magic. Your wind and the earthy guitar are just the thing to help me find my chewy, cosmic carmel center after an exceptionally trying day with my four-year old acting up. Thank you!

Hey Bob
Nice image, yes. I'm happy that it soothed you too.
Did that to me playing flute. Such a sweet sound
- I'll have to record more of it.

Thanks for your appreciation
and for dropping in.

WONDERFUL!!!!
I love this.... it reminds me of what used to be my favorite CASETTE TAPE (they were these plastic things which had these long loops of tape with the music on them in the old days....?) called "Sierra Passage", which I bought at the Street Fair. I loved it, and I love this!

Sierra Passage
That somewhat rings a bell. . .

Well yes. A lot of similar music has been made
- is made and will be made, I'll add. Folk is timeless.
Listening to it again here, what I enjoy about it is the mix
of the bamboo flute type of sound, oriental in itself
with the folksy guitar and a touch of jazz
with the guitar solo. Happy mix.

Thanks Ramo for being here.

Magical...
What beautiful playing, and what an amazingly gentle song. Your flute playing is really wonderful on this number...I agree with your assessment of the woodiness of it. You get all you can out of it...I also very much enjoyed your improv on the guitar. There is such a lazy quality about this whole number...lazy is the way of being comfortable and unadorned with anything pompous or self-serving. I imagine you going up the mountain with your guitar and your bamboo flute and just reveling in the moment. This sounds so real and so not-recorded-in-a-studio. One of the few pieces I have heard that gives me the impression that I am right there! Beautiful.
Peace.

Well, Paul
First thanks for your generous - and insightful - comment. As I listen to it again, I'm more and more appreciating the flute's sound myself - and the playing's not bad for someone who hardly plays it. I'm quite fond of the guitar's solo too.

There's a timeless beauty for me in this type of folk harmonies. I have many short pieces like that - simple yet elegant and often with a twist of my own - and I'd like to make CD just of those one day. Perhaps one of them would be a good choice for a first collaboration - piano would add a wonderful touch to this kind of quieter, gentler piece. . .

So-not-recorded-in-a-studio. Yes, acoustic instruments
can more easily bring about that feeling.

Thanks again Paul.

I`m impressed,
it`s so well played, both guitar (or guitars) and flute.
Very nice chord progression, too. (Not so simple, especially the melody within.)

Only disturbing thing in my ear is the parallelism of the two melodies (rhythm guitar and flute soloing), which sounds like two solos are played at the same time (here and there...).

Great work Bernard!!!

I understand
When I soloed, I could hear that too - especially with the guitar soloing, where it would clash every now and then, so it took a couple takes to get it right enough.

This said, you know I did that quickly and just for fun.
Something else would probably happen
if I'd spend more time on it.
Which may well happen.

Thanks for stopping by.

this is one of those times. And what a gift it is my friend, thank you !

This is, well, "Gentle" soothing to the spirit and relaxing to the mind. You've done a very special piece here that I'm sure will become a classic.

Bravo Maestro, it's wonderful.

A Zen-like...
...stillness-inducing piece. Very centering.

That cold, clear flute sound rings so true throughout. Then the acoustic guitar brings the warmth of a sonic sunrise.

Yes...As others said above: Magic!

such a gentle soul
Bernard, your soul always seems so calm and at peace, as illuminated by your music... this one is no exception. I am sorry to hear that you are enduring challenging times. You get a very wonderful tone from the flute, sometimes solid and rich, sometimes so gentle and breathy that I find myself leaning closer to the computer, even though I have headphones on! Thank you for lightening my heart. I hope it lightens yours too.
