Description
Before going to bed yesterday I had the 'brilliant' idea to turn on my music gear and play around a little. A few less hours of sleep, but I hadn't done that in a while so it's all good. Also realized that even after years of meditation my drum tolerance threshold is still relatively high:)

This is definitely a headphone piece, I just bounced what I had done at the time and didn't mix for speakers yet.

Photograph was taken by a friend from Mongolia, Erdenebataar, and shows runners carrying the World Harmony Torch through the vast grasslands of that beautiful country.

has exceptional feel. I thought the horns painted a mellow canvas that flowed nicely over the that ever so funky beat. Very creative Sir P. When one loses sleep to such a notable endeavor its always good. Great to see a new post by you.

PARI!!!
kassia just wrote me to be sure i knew you had a new tune up! (i beat her - lol - she's at work!) This is ... sigh .. pure parichayaka - gorgeous soundscape, expert weaving of themes and instruments, wonderfully produced. there's just nobody who composes like you - this is a real treat for the ears, and always gives me a high bar to aim (in the vast distance) for! thanks!

Magnificent
Magnificent changes, and a beautiful soundscape unfolding. I really like the drums - they are a perfect driving undercurrent to the more ethereal, sweeping changes happening above (aided and pushed along, of course, by that thrumming, insistent bass riff). The horns are unexpected and welcome at the same time, and for a nanosecond make me think of Peter Greenaway. Nice. This carries the listener away. Beautifully done. Brother, who needs sleep? Nicely done. Peace.

Your sound stages are places to die for
This is so worth the wait. The playing around between the bass and the main beat makes for a fun dance, and the bed with all the other sounds as they weave in and out is pure heaven. Even when the music takes a bit of a breather it's not long before the relentless progression is off again to our delight. I love the occasional smattering of triplets too to break things up. Excellence at all levels, and a really enjoyable listen.

Be well,
Doug

wind
you've created wide open spaces and gentle movement. the panning and whispery synth effects convey a wonderful flowing sense of sound. the horns are full and warm. and the awesome percussion and funky beats just add a very cool counterpoint to everything else that is happening. this is an engaging and enjoyable piece. thanks for posting it!

Meditative Journey
Glad you decided not to sleep, for we would have missed out on this swift meditative journey, through a different dreamland in your head.

I really liked this voyage and it really would be a nice soundtrack either to a video game, travelogue or some great animated surrealistic short.

cinematic for sure, but would also fit nicely on a downtempo record (kind of reminds me of the boards of canada in a way). really nice, so jealous of the sounds you got on this one. great track.

downtempo
More accurate than 'film score'. Thanks! Using samples from Logic 8, Absynth and Battery 3 here - I was always looking for the 'perfect' synth pad or sound - now I find it much easier to look for various aspects of a soundbed and combine different instruments with complimenting frequencies.

you know
tried a little of that on my last one and it ended up being too bassy on regular speakers. impressed with your headphone mix. was just checking out software that supposedly does a great job at mimicking monitors while you mix on headphones. makes the stereo filed more accurate and somehow it sounds as if the sound is coming from in front of you. anyways, great track and I admire your mixing skills.

Stunning! I must keep playing it over and over...... incredible to hear the organ...flowing with incredible beats...horns, chimes, voices....what a weave! The organ never had such great company!!!!

Calling Norman Goodman...
Can you IMAGINE what Norman might add to this with those great, melodic jazz-rock chops? That would be an interesting collab.

But for "normal" people who don't need guitar all the time as I do, this holds together nicely. Nice night's work, Parich!

I totally disagree!!!
Rest not? Hardly. REST is exactly what I take away from this marvelous song. You have created such a controlled yet fluid atmosphere in this composition, one that is so very satisfying and peaceful from the very first note to the last. Swirls and swirls just give me a sense of drifting above the fray. Talk about a song for meditation. This is it! Lovely composition and so good to hear your work again.
Peace.

Thank you Paul
You know, the way you listen to this helps me understand a little better how to look at this track, and makes me feel better about posting an unpolished one-session bounce. The fact that you're able to feel something peaceful or satisfying in it not only says a lot about you (and this is a big fan of your music talking:) but also shows that even a snare drum on a long leash can't hide what we're trying to experience or express musically or otherwise.

Breathless
I'm a big fan of your work and am thrilled to see some new music posted after what seems to have been a long break for you here. This composition is a real treat to listen to especially for an unpolished 1st take. Drum programming is endlessly inventive and fascinating to listen to. I love how things break down after 2 minutes and then morph into a slow deconstruct at the end. Congrats on some great music.

Battery 3 plugin in Logic Pro. As a kid, before getting an actual drumset, I played drums on my keyboard. So now after all these years, and again without a drumset, I'm back to midi:) Would take me a while to be able to do that kind of drumming in real life though!

interesting to hear your experimentation with mixed/off-tempo percussion and horns alongside the characteristic Parichayaka soundscape...creative. I probably prefer the Cumulus, Way out Somewhere, World of Wonder, F12 styles more, but this is intriguing also. Like the use of phaser/panning..always look forward to anything your produce - thanks!
