Slipped Away

Description
I decided to do a song built around a heavy tremelo effect. Started with rhythm guitar and drums - then added synth and bass - and finally lead guitar and vocals. The guitar sounds are a combination of vintage Boss pedals - a recent Behringer tremelo pedal and the low end Line 6 gear box interface with some GB effects for good measure.

I played a '64 Fender Mustang for this one and the usual Ibanez bass and Oxygen8 keyboard. Drums are courtesy of Drums on Demand with overdrive, reverb, and delay. Vocals are one take spread across four tracks with lots of juice on them.
This is basically a tribute to The Jesus and Mary Chain for those who are not familiar with the band - though it's a little rougher at times than their stuff.

Be sure to check out Michael2's great version of this tune - http://www.macjams.com/song/54161

This style was made popular
in England late Eighties and Nineties - most notably starting with The Jesus and Mary Chain - then also My Bloody Valentine, Spacemen 3 , Spiritualized and others. It was often referred to as Shoegaze due to the absence of stage antics on the part of the performers. They tended to stand still - looking down at their effects pedals while building dense arrangements of distortion and reverb.
Thanks for taking an interest.

Your humble opinion is much appreciated
it's my goal to keep as many songs as possible under 4 minutes - ideally under 3. I realized I was ripping off Carlos Alimar after I did it. Glad you gave a listen.

Very cool. I was getting a 90's British sense from this. Which blew away American in the 90's, imho. Especially the lead riff. Cool track!

reid it and weep (ah i'm so fecking clever)
man this is so good that 5X called me on the red, "somebody better be dying" phone and told me to speed the invisible tempie model A hot rod over here pronto to check it out. others here have mimicked the J&MC style but always the old, 80's J&MC. You've nailed the late 90's J&MC (munki for example). very very cool tribute dude, lots of typically greasy Bud type guitar work to love too.

it is an empty school auditorium. the band arrived on the wrong day for school dance. however, they play anyway. the slow dance creates memories of lost romances. the memories dance on the empty floor. 0x0

Ahhh
so this is Shoegazing is it ?And it started over here ? Hmmm Then I must have gone down a different musical avenue at the time..Anyway this invokes a mental picture of some very stoned people, dry ice and comments like 'That ain't right man' and 'trippin'...lol

Heavy Metal Blues ? Whatever its very cool and I shall take it away for further
consideration,nice one Bud.

It's not quite classic shoegaze
if there is such a thing it would have slightly less jagged edges. The vocals and rhythm are close enough - but the lead is a bit out of place.

What a ride
Bowie on acid. I had no idea what "shoegazer" was till now. The effects with the guitar is classic and well done. Not just in your face loud, but well thought out and intended loud. Fine track, it's a keeper.

Diggin this trippy tune
First of all, I totally dig the solo at the end. The production is awesome. I can't ever seem to get my stuff out how I want it to. I love the trippy sound you got going here. And I dig the vocals kind of floating around the instruments. I don't subscribe to the notion that vocals always have to be on top. All in all, great work here bud! Very nice!

rockin the tremolo
great song.
the whole reverb-y, tremolo-y thing just sounds so good.
around 1:30-1:55 and at the end, I just love the notes that you're playing on the lead guitar.... perfection.

Good tribute
Which I already wrote on Michael2's version or addition to this. You do capture the mood of J&TMC very well here, especially with the guitar and the vocals. This is really awesome, dirty, and right on. I did see them live in Provinssi, Finland, way back then. They only performed a few songs before Jim totally collapsed after too much to drink, literally fell over the drum set, and that was that concert. This is so cool!

somehow
your music is so very visual for me. it's unusual that music creates such vivid images in my head, but you manage to do so over and over again. the panning effect you've put in here is very very cool - i found myself swaying my entire body with your vocals as they shifted slightly back and forth. nice stuff sir.
