Trudy's Moods

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
As you should know I don't explain, unless you ask. This is an exception, for what it's worth.

Not a good place to jump into the Daug House experience friend. A very ambitious failure, eight minutes of this was cut, either it was too dense or just too real, it was making me crazy and I had to stop.

This is "Orchid's other sister", for those of you keeping score. I suggest only those familar with Daug tricks, my harmony, trip voicings, and so on proceed.

"Trudy" was the "3 in one doll" popular in the late 40's, early 50s.

Hi! I knew you would dig the rave section. I bet that last part, with the torturous synth line was trouble. I'm glad you didn't have to hear the eight minutes I cut. This was a bad trip to make, but I cleaned it up and posted the most "listenable" sections...

Hi Feter
Trudy's Mood a take on Mahavishnu Orchestra Lol. I made Bhairava Daug already and stopped once it sounded too MO, even though it was not on purpose. This here is Daug! JM is a favorite though, he does tele?

eally great to hear you digging in on the Tele
and the bass kicks butt. This is some serious shit - I'm very impressed and more than a bit humbled. The House of Strange has not just gotten a new room - it's opened a new wing. Excellent collab with your multiple selves. Can I hear the 8 minutes that were too dense - I think I might really like them.

What? Now I have the goods? Strange lives in the downwind outbuildings at the Daug House! Lol.
Just my own wing? I will have to get to work and make a real dope cut. Lol. The eight minutes of torture and assorted weirdness will not be made available. Like the grande finale of Quiver Quake it will remain a mere crummy story or a prudent edit.
Thanks for your support Bud.

Interesting
Madness is disjointed in the bipolar psyche. Thank you for listening, as you can hear I have my own genre. The guitar is pretty straight forward here, my ears don't like most guitar tone stuff, the only real tonal addition I made was some rotary cab on the rhythm part in the dollhouse section, just to smooth it out...

Welcome my friend. I am pleased you enjoyed this post. Your comment is encouraging. The eight minutes cut from Trudy would alter your opinion, I cut the mad parts and left them to your imagination. Nothing I could make with these tools could match the reality of late 40s early 50s minds lost in Trudy's grip. Mental health awareness has progressed, at least dolls with multiple personalities are not openly sold to children.

Fab montage. Love the bedspring guitar pre and postludes best. Lovely pop lilt ala Flaming Lips. As always--cool melodic ideas but hold the sugar. Your harmony thing at work? Great guitar playing throughout, but it's the ideas more than performance that leap out at me here. Both at a high level. You continue to open my ears and mind. Btw, did you see my response to your comment on "Memphis", comparing you to Hermeto Pascoal, the Brazilian Avant jazz master? Your soul brother, Daug.

Hi John
I agree, Pascoal is a monster, sitting with him at the piano would be glorious. He is an entertainer as well. I am humbled and unworthy of your high praise, but I like it! Lol.
I fear few of my listeners even hear the tricks much less contemplate the how or why. Like: I just made these for the two of us, Lol. Arrogance huh Virginia... I get mail (*&^%$), call me the "Daug" already folks. Opps, I am a Daug, too much Trudy!

3 is better than 16...
Amazing moods and styles you effortlessly melt together here, although Trudy(3) is probably better than Sybil(16)... there seem to be bits of Pink Floyd in here, both in music and mix (Meddle), as well as other indescribable genres... love the 70's trippy whale-song work near the end... I assume that was a slide? For "experimental" style, this was very listenable and enjoyable... hmmm... my mind must be expanding to hold all these genres. Hope I don't become Trudy! :-)

Drakonis

3 is not enough?
Naw? Pink? After Barrett I have little use for the builder boys. You may associate the chords through a rotary cab with David Gilmore, Barett's replacement. You maybe right about the mix, but I would hate to take credit for that level of application. I have lots of ideas and poor execution, especially for percussion. I have no patience for it at this level of compensation. Lol.
No whale song. That is me torturing a synth, as per the theme. I also got around to the tele and bass for eight minutes of gore but I cut it, thinking it was better left to your imagination. Old school! See Bud's note above.
Thank you for listening. I appreciate your response to my work. Sometimes I think you get it, but you are always welcome and certainly prickly and quick with a pun. Lol

Doll's moods
Very creative piece. A doll's mood swings and bends as projected by a child's whim and where any other can step in to turn it all on its end.

I really like the effects. Like a whirlwind of coils and vacuum tubes in some Testla experiment.

Intense
Great guitar playing.

I have some doubts about the drums. Around the 2 minute mark they are reduced to a bass drum and I can't figure out what it's doing. To be honest, I find it irritating. The piano & guitar part doesn't really need it.

The third part of the track (because of the 3-in-1 doll?) is interesting. Very different from the rest, but cool.

Daugrin said 145 days ago (July 4th, 2009)
Intense Explained
The "dollhouse" section has three parts. The middle section feature the bass drum on 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 3 as on the bookends. The drum sound here, in the middle section, has 3 components, like a human heart beat. There is a "swish" or "woosh" sound at the end of third component, this is exactly like the sound of blood being ejected from the left vent of your heart into the systemic system. If you listen very carefully and your ears are good you can hear this happening (sound) inside your own body.
The "Dollhouse" middle section features a tele and piano completing each others lines and a slide part that features 2 characters "speaking" as well. This is all to support the theme of a child playing with the doll.
I hope this eases your irritation. In my humble opinion this device very cleverly supports the theme.
You did ask, I hope this increases your enjoyment of the experience.

Hi Andy
Not to many slide players worth listening too, especially on tele. Thank you for your generous comments. My phrasing is unique, or at least uncommon, and, that allows the interest factor, my long time drummer describes my playing as "horn like", or "saxophone on the guitar". He doesn't understand "expressive". Lol

hey man...
looks like I missed your latest. I've had a crappy last 2 weeks so sorry. Anyways. I never heard of a trudy doll, and I'm not quite sure about the 'experience' i'm sposed to have. but I'm just getting over a nasty 2-week cold and the first couple notes on the song helped drain something from my left ear.

Anyways, the keywords are quite accurate. I can never write or even play anything except while in the 'mania' stage, so I don't think I could write a song like this.

Being a simple musician I appreciated the slide parts after 2:50 mark. It reminded me of Duane Allman trying to emulate George Harrison and then getting pissed off and tweaking out.

Anyways, the previous notes are to be taken as a compliment. I don't leave comments unless I like the tune. Thanks for posting.

Okay Ears Don't Work
... Glad your ear drained, I suggest you come back in 24 hours for another treatment. Lol. Don't worry about being unfamiliar with Trudy, she may have fostered a lot of mental illness in the 40's and early 50's by glorifying multiple personality. Research?
There is no slide after 3:30. That is a synth and it revisits the first theme in a very clever manner while supporting the fourth aspect of Trudy's multiple personality, madness.
I agree, you could not have written Trudy. The harmony is beyond your grasp, creative use of dissonance is not in your bag yet... The bass line in the manic theme is fun to play. I encourage you to listen close and try to steal it, it cooks, and the licks you would learn would come in handy.
