Description
'Being upon a diabolical soundscape of unauthorised female ecstasies, tribous cacophonies, crackers with too much blue cheese and a series of indefinable moonlit rustic weekend breaks, finding slugs in coat pockets.Oh - and cabbage'
thats what I put on the id tags anyway.Really its just a point I reached during a period of moving house where I had so many decisions and blummin thoughts goin through my head I had to do something or panic.I find it hard to organise my thoughts sometimes so I just put it on record without a click and improvised until I came to some natural conclusion.Being impatient as I am,I decided to just speed it all up via tempo about 300 times.I listened back to it then for about 3 months and it seemed to ease my confusion - I realise that kind of skittish gobbledygook isnt everyones cup of tea - but it always made me laugh at the end,so I just kept it anyway.
Then I'd been struggling with styles and as usual asking myself what exactly is my favourite style of music to play or listen to and I still dont know,I think its all good.So I set to work and it came out sound a bit oriental,so I stuck with that for a bit but it soon went into blues,so I tried to add some guitar.I bluffed over the bits where there should have been an amazing guitar solo with a different kind of solo. Then later that night,I accidentally set myself on fire while trying to cook meatballs wearing a crinolene shirt while bending over to steal some phillipino rice that had previously been cooked by the phillino neighbours and smelt fantastic. Its ok though about a fifth of my chest blistered over and eventually healed quite succesfully.Bollocks I thought the next day - I'll just put the two tracks together and see what happens.
The photo is from a mobile photo I sent to my girlfriend cos I was so excited to be cooking cabbage after so many years since school dinners.Actually I dont recall eating it,but I'm sure it helped the evening recover itself though.
Most people have heard stuff like whats on the white album, and some frank zappa, and various other composers like Stockhousen etc - and I never forget seeing a live concert of his in a park where he had 5 orchestras situated around the park at night, playing seemingly independent pieces that at given moments synchronised. All fascinating to me when I was a kid.So theres a bit of that influence in there too.I'm talking some poetry at the beginning and end,but I'm afraid theres no prizes for finding out what it is.OR....ok actually there is - if you tell me the poem,I'll send you a pair of nail clippers, first thing I saw - and I dont need em cos Ive bitten my nails down to the quick since I was 6.
Other sounds on the track have come from freesound. Most of the panning etc is done by scribbling on the pan track, and most of the frequency changes are done by manipulating the frequency on a plug in such as rezfilter while recording those changes live. The synths are all retro plug ins JX10,E Piano etc - for anyone whose interested.
But generally - dont eat too much cabbage - all things in moderation yada yada.
Best Wishes - RG
(edit - I put easy listening as the category originally as a joke.sorry - changed it to jazz instead)

You dont need a thing
To get you any higher
The birds gonna make you sing
You can dance into the fire
To get you any higher
The birds gonna make you sing
You can dance into the fire
