Description
Blue Note MT - 2

This is a piece of music I started working on in 1995. It's taken until now for me to finally get back to it and finish it up, at least for now. There are no loops of any kind in this track, this is the real me, from 14 years ago.

So here for your listening pleasure is Blue Note MT. The MT stands for Mixed Time. There was then and now there is now.

Enjoy,

Ed

Thanks Jim
The Pando file is uploading as we speak, but it's a big file so it's be a while yet.

Glad you liked this one. I've been putzing with this one for a long time. Finally decided to do something more with it than just the midi files I originally built for it. It's another one of those strange tempo changes so at least I;m consistent here lately.

Thanks for listening Jim and for the kind words on it.

comping the chords
i like the variety of styles on the guitar chords at the beginning. the different approaches in tone and style on the guitar solos also a treat. the first one was was liking making brief statements and to the point. as where the second one was just a little more free flowing. but really tight on that little turnaround.

impressive piece.

Thank you Vic
It's not even close to perfect, but I wanted to get it posted now. I will probably do more work on it to straighten out a few little mistakes in the guitar parts, but that'll be later I thinking.

Glad you liked what it is and how it sound my friend. Thanks again for listening and the kind words, Vic

Me too Mark
Alway have, always will.

Glad you enjoyed this track Mark. If you think you'd like to play with it some, I'll send you the tracks less guitar parts. Then you can do your own interpretation of it.

Thanks again for listening and the great comments Mark,

This is one of those that you put away and say, "I'll get back to it one of these days". Well after 14 years, I finally did.

Thanks again for listening my friend, I really appreciate it. Thanks also for the kind words on it.

And while I'm thanking you, thanks for letting me put down a bass track on "Spanking the Chicken". That was a lot of fun for me to just sit in like that.

Be well and be cool Bill,

Ed

It took a while to finally finish this one, mostly because I put it on the back burner 14 years ago and never got back to it until now. But now I feel much better because it's, if not done, far enough along to share it and get some feedback on it.

Thanks again for the gracious comments Feter and for listening to it, it is very much appreciated.

14 years! Well it was worth the revisit... The bass is killer! The guitar strums just perfect!!!

I was listening to Simple Life recently on my drive between Fort Collins and Tulsa OK... I was howling!!!

You make some seriously great music Ed!

Thanks Mark
You are too kind.

But I do appreciate you coming round and listening to my psychotic musical ravings and taking time to leave me the great comments.

As for "Simple Life", it's just one of those fun Country romps that's bound to make you crack a smile, and fidget in your seat when it's playing. That was probably one of the most fun songs I've ever done, at least for me as an artist.

Great to see you here, and thanks again for listening Mark,

Ed

you sir

I have that same problem here where I live in Arkansas, finding other player that just want to play music for the fun of it. I know there are some here, but I guess it's my own fault for not getting out and networking the locals find them. I'm always too busy in the studio making up these concoctions I call songs.

And you're right about the players here on MJ, and over on IC too. Although I don't consider myself a good enough player anymore to fall into that category, there are some very good players on these sites.

Thanks again for dropping in, listening and leaving me the wonderful compliment, and the comments on this song my friend, it really means a lot to this old man.

Sweet, Cap'n!
This is just sweet... has a swing and swagger that is familiar and new at the same time... love the initial part that is sparse and late-night-alley-echoey, and then the more up-front middle section. Amazing that this was played with broken ears, arthritic mind, and deaf fingers though... I think those are symptoms of drinking FireWire, though. Great listen!

Love your description of my physical condition, very well said.

It still needs some work, but I wanted to post it at this stage so I could move on for a while. It's been sitting for so many years I figure I owed it a public showing. I want to redo some of it and maybe add a few things to flesh it out a little more and make it more interesting.

Thanks for listening to it Eduard, and for the kind words.

If there's one thing I am, it's inconsistent. Never the same place twice, on the fretboard or with where the music's going. But I have fun, and that's really what counts for me.

Thanks again for the kind words Alec, and for stopping in to listen. Glad you enjoyed the ride my friend,

Cool blast.
What a cool blast from the past. Nice, clear guitar tones and phrasings - I heard one riff here you also did in our Battleship Blues collab - the SloDNA?! I was certain the bass, with that great pop, was looped. On the MT theme... I wish we could click to enlarge the song art here... you've got a calendar and who knows what other cruft floating across your cyberspace beach... neat-o! I'm back from my trip as you know and will catch up with your prolific posts soon as I can. Cya!

Is it live or is it MIDI
It's MIDI that I put together back when I still could, no loops allowed. As for the shared BBB lick, I only remember just so many licks, so I have to recycle them. The Bass is all me, all MIDI, and alright.

I can send you a copy of the calendar if you'd really like to see it, but it's not much to look at, and it's out of date now.

Glad you made it home safely and from what I gather, had a great time. Nothing like a big body of water to make for fun and good times.

Talk to you soon,

Ed

The only reason it wasn't done sooner is that I stopped playing for most of that 14 years. The fact that I bought and Apple, found MacJams, and made a bunch of friends here, has inspired me to take up my music again. I go back through the old material and listen to it, then polish it up a bit and post it. The hope is that someone will enjoy what I do, and find pleasure in the experience.

Thanks again for the kind words Bob, glad you liked Blue Note.

So blue...
...and so mellow. Ed, this is a very cool track with some wonderful guitar lead playing (love the bends) and accompanied by just the right amount of well-placed percussion and thumping bass. This strikes me as a very well-done mix that fills up my headset with a full spectrum of sound. You are such a skilled guitarist and it is wonderful to hear you playing this so well and so engagingly.
Peace.

I appreciate all the great comments my friend, and you coming over to listen. I'm glad you enjoyed this track, it was kind of an exercise I did to get my head and hands back into the music. Besides, I figured after 14 years, it was about time to do something with the backing tracks I'd put together back when.

Thanks again for all the kind words Paul,

It's just a little blues in the key of "A". But it was fun building this one. I can hear a few places where the guitar needed a little better control in the playing it, but it is what it is, spontaneous.
