yes - i get the impression this is an extremely helpful
community - and with GarageBand i'm just starting off
with a basic set of skills - and seeing what i can do
with them - before getting into it on a more technical
level - listening to some of the tracks posted here
indicates to me that i have a lot to get to grips with -
i take your point about the lead vocals needing some
form of differentiating twist to them - and perhaps
if they weren't Ambient like the rest they would sit
in the mix better -

Garage Band is a very powerful tool, I always tell new user save your original track and them experiment with settings. Reverb, compression, delay, chorus, amp simulation, visual EQ, it goes on and on! Another tip is do not use too much reverb, a common issue. You loose the characteristics of the instrument. However for being new to GB, your off to a GREAT start!!!

well it's short because i was having difficulty taking it anywhere.
but because of your encouragement i'm going step back from it for a while
and then see what happens when i get back into it. let's see if i
can build it up into a full-length piece. i think i'd find that
very rewarding - at the moment i seem to be stuck at around one minute
in length - i don't know why - i'm obviously having a problem developing
what i'm doing -

well it's all pretty new to me here
but i hope at some stage that i can work with other musicians who post on this site - first i think i have quite a lot of developing to do - i mean as far as GarageBand and home recording goes i'm a beginner - and even as a singer i am still exploring possibilities opened up by multi-track recording - it's an exciting time though for me - and this is a cool on-line community - everyone's welcoming - and i'm really glad i found it - i'm certainly up for collaborative work - but i'd like to see what happens in the coming weeks and months - with all this new input i haven't a clue which direction i'll end up going in -
