Lost (bud cover)

Description
When I first heard this it reminded me of an obscure Velvet Underground piece titled "The Gift" , where John Cale reads a story over some music. It's a really interesting tune if you ever get the chance to listen to it.

That was the original idea, but somehow it turned into a Morrison type thing. Not my intention. I just wrote down some random phrases as I listen to this. Then just recorded over it using whatever phrase I thought was appropriate.

I really like experimenting and this was a great vehicle to do it with.

Kevin (bud) called his original idea indulgent, but I thought it was some great audio art. I loved it. It inspired me.

This won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Stay tuned for another cover I did by one of your favorite Macjammers...

Here's Bud's original http://www.macjams.com/song/51422

"The warning that I've recieved,
...you may take it with however many grains of salt you wish, that the brown acid that is circulating around us is not specifically too good. Uh, it is suggested that you do stay away from that, but it's your own trip, so be my guest." (Woodstock, 1969)

The Morrison-esque trip really took me back Dave (and Kevin). Enjoyed!

Be well!

Actually,
I missed it to brp. I was hitch-hiking there, got as far as Iowa, and began meeting people heading back from the concert. I did, however, attend a number of outdoor, Woodstock like festivals, albeit in a much smaller scale. The tune took me back to that ERA in a big way...

Be well!

Man Dave - you nailed the vocals on this
I'm so flattered to be given the Lizard King treatment. Interestingly - The Gift came up on rotation in the car last week as I pulled up to the house and I could not stop listening - just sat there digging it. Good ears that you heard the potential in this - it never occurred to me. Thanks for taking the time to make this your song - I love it.

well you see, timmy
i immediately thought of the Cobain/Burroughs record called "the priest, they called him" i think. if i still sat around getting high i'd probably really dig this but sober it's not really my thing. i think Bud is right it IS indulgent, but i like that about it, i like the whole high school fervent poetry thing, i think that's what turned so many people on to Morrison, that ridiculous but endearing sophomoric self seriousness. so thanks for staying for the lecture, read chapter 5 by tuesday and don't forget essays are due at the end of the month so get started now.
