Really appreciate the really supportive and encouraging comment Michael. Very pleased you liked it. Vocal sounds are dry mixed with various different presets on 4 auxiliary tracks plus ozone 4 on each. Don't remember a bit crusher amongst them. I just play with all sorts until I get bored or really like the sound. Wasn't actually very happy with the sound of the raw vocal so just played around. Thanks again. :) very Len, very weird, very enjoyable. the drums are almost out of place but not really. the song and vocals seem snuggle against certain genre borders, somehow. weird. it is kind of entrancing, but in other ways, can't say which, not. I think the drums play a huge role in my perception, those rolling toms, those little guitar riffs. Creative is such a nice word Vic. I was also expecting guitars at the end. I was sitting with the drums/bass/backing sounds/melody for many weeks and just tweaking and tweaking (and tweaking) with no idea at all how to go further. Then the lyrics/vocals etc came within hours one day and I had to post urgently. I was looking for something to rhyme with stars and thought guitars was interesting. Judy Garland? Hahahaha. I was thinking Perry Como or Vic Damon or one of those other Italian crooners from the days of yore. On first listen, I paid more attention to the overall sound and composition than to the drums. I thought your vocal treatment was brave in the extreme, and it pays off. Almost sounds like you're intoxicated, which sets the mood perfectly -- some drunk guy going on about "mystery" and "stars," totally oblivious to the dark undertones of the music. Bloody Hell... Perry Como... you know I really hated that TV show, it used to make me want to smash the TV, my parents loved it. Having said that I must admit to loving 'Moon River' big time. So maybe you have hit on something here, I am a closet/latent Perry Como and have just been in denial for years. I prefer 'some drunk guy going on about "mystery" and "stars". I live next door to a pub and was awoken a few nights ago to a bloke singing at the top of his voice to a vaguely known melody 'I forgot the words' 'I forgot the words' over and over. Drums First time I've really used the padkontrol properly. Started of with a loop, played over the top of it, then dropped the loop. Seems to have worked out quite well. Also used the padkontrol for the sounds in the background - loaded it up with an instrument instead and then played that. Gave a good effect, I think, actually playing notes percussively. i wanna reach out and grab ya? because that's what I thought when i read the title. but the tune disabused me of THAT notion lol! i'm with re-al on the judy garland. what a cool concept dude. cool enough just to think of this concept, and the fact that you executed it so well, even cooler. love that orchestral break with the flute and the _______ (insert whatever instrument that is here) and the ______ (same). and the drumming man, it exists apart from the rest of the rhythm yet it works, don't know how. from the standpoint of a composition wonk like me this is really very good stuff. i'm blown away dude this is great. You've put a spell on me! Not strange at all, just creative and open minded. Very interesting composition, with an equally interesting arrangement and choices of instruments. Vocals (and lyrics) are intense, very unique way of mastering the vocals. Nice production. Bam! Thank you! PS. I used to listen to a band from Denmark many moons ago called "Disneyland after Dark". Two elements dominate: Kick-ass drum beat as relentless as the tribe beating their drums before they attack the neighborig tribe..to steal all their women or their cattle, or both.. and the voice of a very seasoned 1950's crooner: Perry Como, Vic Damone..someone like that.. shat, even Johnny Ray, albeit one having a trip on wild mushrooms.
