A Semblance of Order

Description
I seem to be mixing boundaries with this piece. It started out as Space Ambient but by the time this version came about, it had erred towards Experimental Ambient, or Ambiental as I prefer to call it.

There is an underlying semblance of order, as in the title, but with huge chaotic swirls coming into and going out of sonic focus. I find it hard to listen to in some places, as the sound space 'wavers' from the norm to an all-encompassing space, where all key signatures abound. You just have to step back somewhat to appreciate the bigger soundscape.

It is, in one way, a thought triggered by Davajonah's last piece, Henry's Dream (http://www.macjams.com/song/54583) and his video presentation of the same music.

I am intrigued as to how you hear/experience this mix. It's bordering on being too chaotic so please let me know your thoughts and if you could listen through all of it.

Hi Mark......
Do you mean the M42 galaxy or the M42 space synth?? If its the picture, then that solves a mystery, as I couldn't remember where it was from or what it was of. If its the synth then I didn't use it on this mix. Just Zebra 2 I think.

Take care.

Good music
whatever genre. Sounds like space cinematic. Some semblence to an early Tangerine Dream-song in places.

I dont't know if it is my equipment or if its intentional, but in most of the song there is a white(?) noise where I would expect (and prefer) a crystal clear mix. Is it maybe in the mp3? It is a bit distracting... Otherwise no complaints at all!

Take care.

Hi Henke.....
I did actually try to minimise the hiss on this mix. It was a lot worse before I played around with it. Some folk don't mind this on Space Ambient and some folk hear it a little too much. I have been told about this on previous mixes, but I mostly don't notice it myself unless someone makes a comment, so I must be OK with it being there.

TD crops up again. I've only probably heard early TD stuff so there may be some influence from there. It was not intentional. My main music of influence is Vangelis. That rocks my boats far, far more than TD. Be prepared for more Vangelis influence in up and coming pieces.

Take care.

ambiental
is right. i love how the intro almost sounds like an organ. not too chaotic at all. it's actually almost pop for you. the chord changes are sooting, but there is a bit of pomp and circumstance going on. i think this is a winner for sure. love the pad swells.

Hi Michael....
The PAD's are Zebra 2. I've been playing with 5% changes to existing favourite PAD presets, and have 50 or so, so these probably were the ones used in this mix. I am searching for the 'ultimate' PAD sound so you should hear a lot more of these in future releases.

Almost pop and pomp and circumstance are fine with me. It's appropriate being English and with the BBC Proms season under way, so you could say I'm in the mood.

Take care.

Ambiental
Nice word. It doesn't strike me as too chaotic at all. I find it actually quite an easy listening, quite harmonious. Chaotically speaking, you've done. . wilder things, for what I recall.

Good work - thanks !

Hi Boundless.....
I like to be the worst critic for my pieces, so chaotic seemed appropriate, but I forget that other listeners form different pictures whilst listening, so they may not hear what I heard. I suppose that's the beauty of music. Everyone hears different things.

Take care.

Below the surface
all is chaos. Great title. I could go either way on the white noise. It adds a busyness to the mix, and that suggests an underlying chaos, which is an appropriate description of the universe on the large scale. But in the main, this has an epic sweep to it. BIG sound. Excellent.

Hi Duane,,,,,,,
The hiss is the Cosmic Scale Brownian Motion. Globular Cluster sized molecules, light years across, swirling relatively around the Cosmic Centre of All Things.

Take care.
