I Am Free

Description
It's a pop song without any deviation to form except maybe the middle eight with the half step minor fall. I corrected a few mistakes.

Lyrics
I Am Free

She was a lovely girl who held me tight
She kissed my lips
Under pale moonlight
And she said to me
You are free

Then she stayed for one year
And I swear it was not like a year
But just a moment or two to me
And she said
You are free

And oh, the feeling is nice
Closest I've ever been to Paradise
Or Nirvana
Or something like that
And then she said
You are free

Just a taste of life
That's what I've had
Don't get me wrong cause I'm not sad
And I'm not blue
And I'll get by you'll see
Cause I am free

Nirvana
So nice of you, man. It's a pretty thin song but I never completely discarded it and to have you say you also hear something in it is great. Buddy Holly or maybe just The Hollies or Bobby Vee--any of those if I was one tenth as good I'd be in paradise or that other one above.

Groovy!
This has a great sort of open-air summer feel to it. Love the hand claps. Vocals are great but the background vocals are the icing on the cake! I like the sparseness of the track but feel that there should be a bass or something underneath. Well done!

Funny
I'm sort of responding to you and the other first comments all together. You all picked up on the things I liked too, which confirms to me that music is air and we just breathe it. Actually I started thinking about creepy harmonies like they used in the real old b&w scifi movies for the intonation I was trying to impart. Like in 'Invaders From Mars' where everytime the aliens melted a wall there was a creepy vocal group sound. Seriously--only not up front sounding. But, thanks, and you're right. That's what I liked best, too.

Yep
Yeah, creepy Sci-Fi harmonies would be cool, but maybe not for this song. Definitely a good idea for a future song though!

man you've got an immediately classic sound, i really like your playing and arrangements, with the handclaps and the wonderfully phrased pop backups and the quirky phrasing. a great feel good tune, i'm heading to the beach in a couple weeks and this will be on the ipod.

to be a 'lesser tempie'
would be just fine with me in terms of pop music. I was afraid this was just too undifferent and bland. I like to stay real close to form and then just slighty jut out from it, which you do with such ease only you go all the way to the next county and I'm still making sure mine is safe enough that The Dave Clark Five could do it with a straight face. I'm glad I saved one my Grandma Hubbard's favorite paintings to go with this one as she liked things liked the Dave Clark Five.

I'm glad
Tempie sent this my way. The line where you throw out "...paradise, Nirvana, or something like that" is both well written and perfectly expressed. Very cool song!

also my favorite
the nirvana part never existed until my ex-wife moved to a street named that--and there was an old Rockford Files episode called Quicky Nirvana that was about a phony girl who went from religion to religion trying to fix her phony self instead of just looking in the mirroe; so you picked up on essence exactly as I intended it. I'm honored you listened.

Nice Kitchen Party Vibe
Folk music like it was meant to be played.

Fav'd.
