Lyrics
A Right To The Blues
Never been poor, down on my luck or downtrodden
Done time in jail, worked for the man or picked cotton
I can’t even say that I’ve had to pay many dues
Still I’m well acquainted with all of the shades of the blues
Been to the Delta, but only drivin’ through
And Southside Chicago I’ve been but a time or two
I don’t like to gamble, I drink beer but never touch booze
But since I’ve met you, darlin’, I’ve earned a right to the blues
A right to the blues
It’s the gift that keeps givin’
From the school of hard knocks
Got my diploma in livin’
The day that we met
that’s the day I started to lose
Now I’ve learned my lesson’
I’ve earned a right to the blues
Never been ramblin’ or hopped on an ol’ freight train
walked ten miles barefoot or had to sleep in the rain
Never went hungry or plowed behind a mule
But since I’ve met you, darlin’, I’ve earned a right to the blues
A right to the blues
It’s the gift that keeps givin’
From the school of hard knocks
Got my diploma in livin’
The day that we met
That’s the day I started to lose
Now I’ve learned my lesson’
I’ve earned a right to the blues’

you've posted here John. A lovely light and airy blues song in a style way gone by, but still very much appreciated and ever poular. I just love your 'natural' way of singing and the guitar parts and accompaniment are fab; just love this, regards M
