Another instrumental in my series of "I'm Bored, Someone Please Save Me." series of songs designed to show off and nothing more. i am gearing up to do some songs for the Razor's Kiss, and am cleaning my hard drive... This was another one that was on the desktop, so i finished it, one take, no overdubs, plain and simple, lots -o fun. thanks for listening.

I
love the bass intro and drums... The guitar work is killer... I found it has a tiny bit too much high end... It kind of overshadowed the rest of the instruments... Maybe the whole mix was a bit hot...

Still great work! Very epic sounding!

killer
you get the best bass tones and they sit so well in the mix. what's your secret? really like this one and it's bluesy vibe. makes me want to sit in a dark room smoking cigarettes and drinking hard liquor.. if I did that sort of thing. Anyway, fantastic lead. Lots of soul in this. Love when it really takes off at 1:50. Would buy a whole album of this kinda stuff.

the bass
is a 100 dollar left handed dual pickup Rogue. very cheap, with the same strings i bought the bass with three years ago... so, it is not the bass.... hahaha
the key is Line6. the Podx3 live footboard is the most amazing peice of equipment i have ever run in my 20 years of tone chasing. on top of having the most killer guitar tones, fully tweakable, from amps, cabs, mics, mic placements, to pedals, delays, mods, filters, wahs, and eq's, the X3 also comes with Bass Tones!! as well as Vocal Tones.
i do not use the vocal tones, but i know i would in a live setting. anyhow, the bass tones are inc.uded in the Gearbox download, and having Gearbox allows me to fully adjust every aspect of my tones on the screen, rather than bent over the footboard. then, it is as easy as pushing a button twice to lock the tone in. what really sold it to me was the ability to use dual tones. two tones at once gives the player unlimited capacities for experimentation. i know i sound like a pitchman, and line6 is not paying me to write this, but i cannot speak higher of this product. the ability to run it direct via usb2, or stereo 1/4" via an external audio interface gives you a tremendous wall of sound.
i agree my mix is a bit tinny, i think i need new monitors. from my end, the mix sounds a bit muddy, but after i bounce, it sounds more high end-y..
but, in all seriousness, look into line 6, and Gearbox. they are my main source of sound, and after all, tone is what makes the player, in my humble opinion. the best guitar player in the world is only as good as he/she can be heard.

Isn't this mixing/
mastering business strange - you know this sounds fantastic in my headphones (and they are very good reference ones). Just spot on - the bass and drums really deep and separated and the guitar trebly yes, but correctly so, in my opinion. I suppose that's all there is, opinions.
Apart from the mix stuff, this is incredible playing and very, very soulful. Like Ridd I could listen to it for hours.
Thanks for the add to one of my biggest and favourite musical collections.
Cheers
Len

gear porn
Allen,

I LOVE one take show-off songs! You are the type of dude who can pull it off, absolutely blistering chops, especially starting at about 1:47, very Jimi. Thanks for all the gear notes, I'm gonna have to run out and get me one of those Bass pods. The mix on this is amazing, really crystalline, beautiful 'air' space, EQ separation. Downloaded and put on HEAVY rotation. Thx A!

Splendid, just what I needed to blow out the last week or so. The trick bag is just sick on this, heard it all before yes, but in this context the shred is gorgeous and novel.
Bass line is supportive and driving. The minor blues feel is a great work horse and you really gave this a ride.

Cool!
Sorry for the late comment bro.

Has a real Hendrix/Psychedelic feel to it. Love that solo tone. Damn Pods! I SWEAR I'm gonna convert.
