Description
This is one of a few improvs I did in late April while I was in Mexico on business. My contract carried me through the second week of May, so it would have been impolitic and expensive to leave before then. Mexico City began reporting an outbreak of swine flu shortly after I arrived, and the numbers of infected were rising hourly. I couldn't get any information from the airline about possible flight cancellations (was the US considering closing the border?), and the cowards at the American Consulate had closed up shop because of the disease so I couldn't get through to them on the phone. The Mexican government insisted that 'things were just fine', yet they were handing out surgical masks on the streets! Meanwhile, back at home, there were confirmed cases of swine flu at my kids' school.
All in all, a surreal two weeks.
The apartment I stay in is right on the beach, and the surf is very, very loud. At night, you can hear (and see) revelers up and down the beach, so I do a lot of 'field recordings' from my balcony whenever I am there.
These little songs are pretty obviously about the way unpleasant organisms travel and mutate; the songs (and the organisms, too, apparently) are unfinished, so please feel free to put them through any further mutations you'd like!

schweinhund verbotten!
my Mackie's are FREAKING OUT! This is soooooo cool! The variation in spacial relationships in this is vast. I love the surf, it puts the whole thing in a very surreal place. The reverb swooping fade out is beautiful. Wonderful punctuation to a great piece.

Thank you
Now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure you played on this one; one of the tracks in there is a stretched guitar. Maybe a left over from another project.....? I will check the folder and get back to you. I hope the Mackies survived!

Yep, there's a strong "On the Run" vibe in this one. It sort of goes with the "One of These Days" thang in my last post. Thanks very much for listening.

Bad trip
Yeah, it was definitely that. The toughest part was being expected to work all day with no news, and then try to catch up with everything in the evening.
Anyway, I'm glad you stopped by for a listen, Tim. I have some new stuff in the pipeline I think you'll really like.

Best regards,

SJ

Listening thru little speakers...
at work. Yet it does sound pretty amazing. That pulsating rhythm... quite a mix... and as others have said quite an experience. Thanks for sharing it.

That panning
is due to overuse of some freaky plug-ins....... I'm glad you like it! Thanks for listening AND commenting, ste.
Cheers,
