Emperor's new clothes

Description
I was listening to quite a bit of Public Image Ltd and wanted to write a song that was built on the rhythm with the bass leading the melody and the guitar as a sort of afterthought or additional instrument..and it came out differently to how i planned.
Anyway, without naming names this is about a young drummer who joins a band with a famous lead singer and after the awe fades away he realizes he's been taken for a ride.
Hope you like it
Cheers

Lyrics
I’m in with the in crowd baby
the social circle of your elite
And you’re the leader by dint that your famous
they kiss your ass and they kiss your feet

Fawning over your every word now
cos you’re Mr. Rent-a quote
make the fear work to advantage
spread the feeling you missed the boat

The truth is there right under your nose
I saw the emperor's new clothes
The paper thin tissue of lies
bought the pedestal down to size

belittling ignorance
but who’s the one who’s unaware
the mirror’s cracked, changing the aspect
no longer your royal subject

make me think you’re doing me a favour
by taking me under your wing
but I can stand on my own two feet now
this bird can truly sing

Welcome the hordes of admirers
A different view when seen from afar
but right here even kept at an arms length
I see things for what they really are

Face to face you seem so much smaller
and all the rubbish that I believed
Your approval I do not need now
Hero worship had me deceived

The truth is there right under your nose
I saw the emperor's new clothes
The paper thin tissue of lies
bought the pedestal down to size

Thanks Mark..and there was part of me thinking this didn't have any 'wow ' in it.
I used the rock kit and the hip hot kit in GB to try to get a contrast in the rhythm section.
Glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in

Well, it's a bit of a giveaway really. The musical influence is the subject matter if that explains it?
Anyway, thanks for dropping in and glad you liked it
cheers

okay
i can totally see that. we'd have to ask Steve Vai if he felt used after the Album/Compact Disc/Cassette release. didn't Mr. Lydon say that he could do a great record no matter what idiots played on it?

Another hit
Very cool percussion sounds, gives the song "pop" I like quite a few of the lyrical lines in this as well. Kudos, as usual great song.

Thanks Mr Rod
I was quite pleased with the percussion programming.
Sometimes it feels a bit 'clunky' but this seemed to flow a bit better.
I know what you mean about the 'pop' feel.
I was aiming for something a bit more gritty but ,as usual, the pop bit crept in.
Thanks for you comments and dropping in

new clothes
Thanks Feter.
I've been getting back into playing the bass as I'm teaching someone how to play it.
And was trying to get the Jah Wobble groove going on.
Think it worked out ok.
Thanks for your comments and glad you liked it

Jah Wobble style

with that cool bassline. Did you use a fretless? Whatever, that's the thing that holds the whole song together as it weaves in and around your drums sounds and vox. Subject matter has influenced your style here and it works well.

bass
No fretless. It's a Westbury Track 2 bass going through the 'wave bass' preset in GB which seems to make it pan around of it's own accord.
Sometime I think the bass presets are better than the guitar ones in GB
Anyway, glad you liked it and thanks for droppin in
cheers

Love it
I like the Lydonesque snarl at the very beginning. Nice bass line. I find bass quite difficult to record - it's either too weak or too boomy and lacking detail. Good job. Good lyrics and brilliant vocals as usual. How do you generate drums? Is it samples or keyboard?

bass and drums
I don't know how I managed to get the bass sounding ok.
For some reason the E is louder than the other strings which I need to get sorted out.
maybe I didn't play the E string on this one.
The drums are a mix of Rock kit and Hip hop kit in GB and tapped out on keyboard.
I surprised myself at my programming as I think I managed to retain a feeling without making it too regimented.
Anyway, glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in
cheers
