Description
Originally a poem I wrote for an English Composition class, 'Truce' turned into my first fully structured song, as well as an experiment in instrument over-dubbing and MIDI controller use. No loops are used. All MIDI controlling was done using a padKontrol drum machine, and an M-Audio Axiom 25-key. This work was done on an MBP, by me, myself, and I, in my poolhouse. I also used an SM57 mic for both acoustic guitar and vocals (I'm saving up for a legitimate vox mic - any suggestions appreciated)
It's apparent that my voice needs a lot more work, and I did use a bit of auto-tuning. I view this song as more of a stepping stone to a higher proficiency with DAWs, as well as music composition in general. Please leave any feedback, whether positive or negative.
Cheers

Lyrics
VERSE 1:
i said to you in another life
what have we got to lose?
now it feels like there's no other way
than to offer you a truce
been down this road so many times
so be sure to don your mask of war crimes
CHORUS 1:
and she said,
how many years have we been waitin'?
and she said,
all that's left - it ain't worth savin'
VERSE 2:
pour yourself some coffee
black, just like your hair
only we remain in the spotlight,
nothin' else can take us there.
CHORUS 1:
and she said,
how many years have we been wastin'?
and she said, man,
all that's left - no, it ain't worth savin'
BRIDGE:
Am F
i can't remember
all the words that i said
i can only feel the hot pain
cutting through my head
slide C
and it feels....
slide C, C Am G
feels like nothing i've felt before
SOLO:
Am, G x3 |
D | x3
BRIDGE BACK TO VERSE STRUM PATTERN:
Am, G x3
F, A#, A
VERSE 3:
movin' down the lazy ol' boulevard
feelin' wrong without a right
the sun sets itself behind the trees ,
as the stars put up a fight
CHORUS 2:
and she said,
this lonely street is my safe haven
and she said,
deep underground, the earth is shakin'
VERSE 4:
It's important, here, to note that we have been
a war machine who's gears work on a shot of gin
but, like the old saying goes, 'war is peace',
so let us set ourselves down and give life a new lease
CHORUS 3:
and she said,
what kind of game have we been playin'?
i said to you in another life
what have we got to lose?
now it feels like there's no other way
than to offer you a truce
been down this road so many times
so be sure to don your mask of war crimes
CHORUS 1:
and she said,
how many years have we been waitin'?

Very nice phrasing of the vox and I love your bass tone. Enjoyed it. Most people here are using Technica condenser mics. I use a AKG Perception 200 condenser (although only on one song so far on here). I used an sm57 for my first 30 songs and it works pretty well.
