Crystal Meditation LIOLI 9

Description
This is my first Loop it or loose it post ever. And it's a challenge, isn't it? My personal challenge was to make this loop listanable using a range of different software synths, mainly presets in Crystal - but ONLY the featured loop! Well, how is that suppose to happen?!

First of all I lowered tempo down to 40 bpm, the slider in GB would not go further, probably for a reason ;-) Then I tried out some nice synth sounds from Crystal (I am still on PowerPC) added instrument Deep Meditation lowered 17 steps for some bass and two different choirs. Tweaking some reverb and other filters, adjusting volume automation and that's about it. Took maybe two hours to make, 2 minutes 15 secs to listen to.

I am on my 16th listen now and it's kind of meditative actually. Possibly best enjoyed with headphones, where it was mixed.

Song art is the inside of the dome of The Swedish Museum of Natural History, just a few hundred meters from where I work in Stockholm. Slightly tampered with in IPhoto.

Enjoy!

Great Chill-out Track
You're right, it is kind of meditative, and sounds great with a good pair of cans on your ears.

Fav'd.

Cheers,
Jim

slow down and sip the coffee
When you don't know what to do with a wayward loop, slow it down and adorn it with Crystal! Sounds great Henke, like a slow procession through a museum in Sweden... ooh, look up! :-) Nice photo too.

That's what I thought!
As always, thanks for the listen and the comment. I like your idea of a slow procession. I like Crystal too, both glass-style and synth-wise. The downside is that the presets are called preset 1, preset 2... instead of more inspirational names. So you have to listen to them and not judge by a false name...

Take care over there!

Tempo down
was a great idea. With the instruments and synths you've used, it made the loop another whole thing.

Good job!

I think I learned the slowing down trick from one of the Ember-versions or maybe from former MJ Mungo. Anyway, it can really make a difference! Take care.

Meditative, yes
and very well done. For a first time, I'd say you did an excellent job on this. Actually made me feel calm and relaxed as I listened to it.

I like where you went and how you got there Henke.

Kudos my friend,

I am glad you liked this. It's not very elaborate in a musical sense, just a quick experiment to see if I could make something of this loop, but it was fun doing, and I'm quite happy with the result after all.

Stay well!

Slowwwwwwwwww
and dreamy, very precise and ornate, like a sky becoming a kaleidascope from horizon to horizon, peaceful and full of visions.

And you pulled this from a dance loop. Bugger all amazing, genius amazing.

Wow, thanks!
Nice picture you painted there! It IS kind of strange that it is all built with one dance pattern loop ;-) Most of the credit goes to the Crystal soft-synth (presets 20, 81, 84 and 102). I just did a bit of additional tweaking ... Thanks again for stopping by and for your very kind comment!

Glad you liked it! On my speakers it sounds a bit crowded in some registers, I'm not sure how that could be fixed. Sounds better in headphones. Hm, maybe that suggest a simple EQ setting thing?

Just listened to your "Love the Loop", which was really nice too! Good use of the loop... Take care.

Alan Parsons, huh
A well known name that unfortunately didn't ring any bells so I had to listen to some 30 second snapshots on iTunes store. Sounded like Supertramp most of them, but the song "I Robot" sure was a bit like this, so thanks :-) I have actually never really tried lava lamps either, but I figure they would be quite meditative to watch. Glad you enjoyed anyway!

I think it feels reverential
as if a great or cataclysmic moment has just passed. And, people come out from their homes in gapingbawe at something..perhaps like the sun turning blue. The unexplainable teaches how little we know. Thank You for spending so much time on it.

Interesting perspective

The Henke sound

Spacious and flowing
I'm blown away what you did with this loop. You've put your signature sound on it and I love every aspect except one - I would have liked it to be longer. I really like your work and find that you can paint such otherworldly spaces that I love to bask in exploring these new sonic places. Maybe another time you could develop this into a longer work?

I first listened on my speakers and now am having another go on my headphones. The wash effect is much more pronounced and the tonal colours seem to be more three dimensional. It's like soaring through the veil nebula.

Gorgeous!

Thanks and be well,
Doug

Blushing
That's some really nice comment! Thank you, Doug! Considering the limitations I set for myself I guess it is kind of nice. I agree it works better on headphones if you care to listen - for pure background listening speakers work as well in my experience. I think I have to disappoint you about making a longer version, but if you like you could put it on repeat. It's rather good while you are working with other things on your computer...

Thank you again and stay well,

Henke

I went over to have a listen to some of your songs too. A bunch of talent, to be sure. Liked your version of Pachelbel's canon for example. If you like you can try my "version" of that one, called Rocking Pachelbel.
