Sometimes I do, Sometimes I don't, Sometimes I get drunk

Tempo 100bpm key of A

Verse 1

Well I'm Rollin down the highway, chasin' after love
Ridin' buckin' bronks or in a honky-tonk, there's one thing I'm sure of
You won't find love in a two bit bar,
but you can find a dream
All it takes is a little whiskey, and a girl in skin tight jeans

Chorus

I'm been ridden' in that rodeo, trying' to win the prize
Tryin' to get that girl in the honky tonk
the one with the flirty eyes
Some times I do, Some times I don't, some times I get drunk
And end up in the county jail, passed out on a bunk

Instrumental Verse

Verse 2

I've been in every one horse town, from here to Birmingham
I've ridden' bulls and wrestled steers, and tasted lots of sand
When it comes to drinken' whiskey,
and chosen' women down
Hey, that's what I am all about, when this Cowboy coolin' down.

Bridge

Some time you get thrown, face down in the dirt
Sometime you make it, when you can make it work
Sometimes all the ladies that saw you in the show
Want to take you home at night, and never let you go

Chorus

Been ridden' in that rodeo, tryin' na take the prize
Tryin' to get that girl in the honky tonk
the one with the flirty eyes
Some times I do, Some times I don't, some times I get drunk
And end up in the county jail, passed out on a bunk

Repeat Chorus

Tag lines ad-libbed

Yeah, Hey Jailer, I wanna see the High Sheriff
Hey, ain't I got a phone call comin' to me, or somethin' like that, I call my Lawyer
Yeah, Hey when are we gonna eat, Jailer,
I'm gettin' kinda hungry I been in here a long time now
Ya ever gonna feed me
Jailer, are you listenin' ? Jailer, can you hear me ?
Hey Jailer, When you gonna let me outta here.
Damn, in jail again, Oh well

Grinning, I am...
without a doubt this is country western music at its very finest. Ed, I can picture both as performing this in a little country bar somewhere, as well as being the guy drinking his whiskey and dreaming his dream.

Everything sounds really good.... singing is classic, as is the band.
Very cool song my friend.

Hey Jailer
Excellent song in every way! Who is playin' all the instruments - is that you ED? You are the High Sheriff of Country at Mac Jams. Much talent - should send this on down to Nashville.

Thanks Johnny
Glad you liked the song Johnny. As for who's playin', that just me (and the Logic Band), if you get my drift. Actually some of it is me, and some of it is loops that I tweaked, sliced, and diced until I had just what I wanted for the backup band.

As for sending this one to Nashville, they know how to find me if they want it. Just look on MacJams, right?

Thanks again for the kind words and the listen, Johnny.

I appreciate you listening to this song, and your very kind words, Tom. I guess you could say I'm stuck in the 70's Country era, at least when I'm doing Country music. Not altogether a bad place to be by my thinking.

Glad you enjoyed the song Maurice. That talking bit at the end was me just having a little fun. I thought the natural consequences of chasing women, and getting drunk is a night in the "gray bar hotel", as we like to call the local jail. So I just had a little more fun than the law allows there on the ending.

Thanks again for listening my friend, and the great comments on it.

I love it, it reminds me of the old days running around, no, not as a rodeo clown but in a Chicago second-tier club scene full of alt.country bands. This song makes me want to cover it in a cowpunk rendition. Bur I just love it, bro!

Glad to hear you enjoyed this one enough to want to hear it again.

As for the Pedal Steel, it is a Pedal Steel. Not one I played, but one some guy in a studio played and Apple was nice enough to include it in the Rhythm Section Loops. I do have a Steel here at the house, but I've got a long way to go before I'm ready yo take on something like this.

Thanks again for the kind words Dave, I really appreciate it.

I just wish I could say I played the Steel on this. Maybe next time I will, but I can almost guaranty it won't be as good as this guy plays.

This song kind of fits in the mold of what Country used to be, and sometimes still is. Less and less all the time I'm afraid, but it's a fun song and I like how it moves along.

Thanks again for listening and the kind words my friend.

great authenticity Ed. and true country to the core. i'm glad you didn't mention anything about rodeo clowns here. or is that another song that you have yet to record. :-)

Thanks for listening Vic, I think it sounds good, but it does sound a little better when it's cranked up, like it would be if you're listening to it in a bar.

Actually, I don't partake of the stuff anymore either,
but there was a day, when this story was more truth than fiction. Ah but that's a long, long time ago now, in a Galaxy far away, and all I can do now is sing about it.
