Song Description

This is an afterture for the "States" album.

the early inquiries of youth
the pain and the instability of relationships
the appreciation of the large and the small
the growing feeling of hopelessness
the denial and rejection of reality
the final crisis of the body
the ceremony of goodbyes and dust
the last lingering words of the dead
the comforting knowledge that it's all in the mind
the fast forward button

Nicely done Bill
the choral voices are very effective and the whole arrangement is interesting with many twists and turns. I'll have to add the whole set to my iPod for the full experience.

rich and granular
something about the choice of cello & low piano along with the strings & choir (and/or your mixing techniques) gave this a thick "grainy" texture (in a good way)... intriguing chords and counterpoint... your unspoken words add weighty contemplation to this. Cool!

Rewind
This is a refreshing chunk of music. Forget the fast forward button at the end - I just want to hit rewind and listen to it again.

Actually, that's exactly what I did - several times.

Which means I need to check out some of your other "states."

A requiem...
This is an intriguing composition, sad, yet trying for hope. I love the cello and piano in this.. As for reality, like a song, it is not limited to only one kind of ending. I opt for the hopeful one. ;-)

Eclectic, at best. I learned some music theory at school, and read a ton about it since. I've listened to lots of music over the years. I once played guitar in an actual garage band and actually got paid to play! Once. Although live performance is an... [see more]
