Description

I wrote this a while ago and i am still not sure about it. It is written with a 12/8 feel, mainly off the back of the bass riff. I am loving playing a real bass. All the keyboards are from logic and played using the midi keyboard, there is a drum loop in places but i tried to change it around quite a bit. I have tried out some new things in the mix, an expander and exciter, whether or not i should be using them is another matter. There is no compression on the final mix, because with the other two plugs in it all sounded a bit too much. I did most of the mix whilst i still had a full hearing range. I did not use any guitar this time, but i have played along with it and thought there might be possibilities.

As a long term swimmer and many years of chlorine in my ears i suffer from a build up of wax which renders me partially deaf for long periods. Having just spent 2 weeks swimming everyday i am suffering from said affliction so i really can not tell how things are sounding. Any pointers would be sweet.

The photo is of my mate Bazzer, he is not an Alphaman and i am sorry mate if i am using this image of you in this context, but i know you have a sense of humour. This was for a photo shoot for another mate who was making these action man type of self potraits and the shooters are his props.

some very cool subtle changes you create with just the bass exploring different rhythmic pulses and key changes. That said, I think the mix sounds quite solid. The spoken vocal parts are nicely spaced and add some added flavor & ambience.
I do miss your guitar work tho :-)

My son wants to know if Bazzer is packing a shotgun or a rocket launcher in his right hand. Ahhhh the youngs fascination with weaponry..lol

Mate, i know nothing about shooters except a spud gun, hardly macho enough for the real men! I have it on good authority that they are copies of some heavy duty killing machines, sorry i can't be of any more help to the young chap than that, but it is relevant that you mention the facination. 	alpha and omega. Goodness knows Im no alpha male. Cool trip-hop/rock track. i like the that gated synth sound going on throughout the song. Nice fat bass sound. I like using the exciter in the final mix to sweeten the overall track a little. Have you tried using the Multi-presser at all? It can be very helpful in final mixes. chilled. i can hear the bass, low light candles, smooth olive oil, even the cold artificial sodium bicarbonate drops. sorry about the health issues but musically this combination works great. almost sounds like a loose, airy structure held together only by the bass riff perfectly decorated with the vocal samples. mix is very good and transparent. distinctly reminds me of 'Orbient'.

well, if they could begin to sound anything like you have put together i would be very pleased. Still applying all the treatments but it is looking like a trip to the doctors. I am trying to finish a few tunes at the moment but it is impossible without ears!!! I am a big fan of the Orb, not that this sounds anything like them. Thanks for your kind thoughts.
