Boot Dragger's Waltz

Description
Messed around with this a bunch and never could nail it to my satisfaction. Don't have the mando chops to play what I hear in my head. Oh well, might as well post and be done with it.

An old-time style instrumental tune in waltz tempo. Bit of a holy mess, time-wise. But I see a dance hall scene in a western movie:gas lanterns, boots scuffing on sawdust.

Yea, Smack Thyself!
Yea...
Such a self-conscious nerd you are buddy. This is wonderful, a knock. Don't listen to you anymore about how good your stuff is, what do you know anyway, just make the stuff! Post it here. I will take care of saying, "Dam that is good, yea better than good, that's JW!" Lol

Cool music and a cool title!
This rythm is so appealing and fun to listen to, let alone dance to, and I really enjoyed it. :)

Boot dragger's waltz.
Enjoyed this lilting melody. Very listenable and friendly. Love it's title as well - it really describes it.

Yum
I am a total sucker for the simple romance of this kind of melody, and all the restrained passion it implies. This is graceful and never overplayed... It takes great skill to get that kind of thing right. I love it.

Also...
You ever come across the work of this MacJammer? Tom Atwood. He's not around so much these days but he too is a film maker with a great feel for modern Americana.

Story teller's
Waltz John and beautiful too. you've set the scene of there being a dance in the hall, but you missed out the stories behind the faces of the dancers. The little old mom at the side watchin' her handsome son with his first love as they whirl around... and then there's the beautiful girl dancing close with her true love, but with a shy guilty glance over his shoulder, as she passes the other guy who looks longingly at her... oh i could go on, but why should i write the script for you ? LOL, just beautiful with a winsome feel, cheers M

Nice old school music
Cowboy music. There could even be vox over this. Great as it is though. I like to overdo it. Great job.

Chatroom
The chatroom clique only smothers out the material that deserves recognition as a by-product.
I don't blame you for not respecting that behavior. Believe me I point it out loudly and often. The biggest offenders have gotten a face full of me on that issue, to the point I am avoided...
The other side of that is doing this part. Standing up for quality music like this is easy...like giving away smiles!

Well this is just wonderful.....
You really nailed the sound of the old shanty
"The mountains run down to the sea.
And the sea, it calls to me."
Really nicely done.

Boot Dragger's Waltz
This is a really attractive tune and very well arranged. All the instruments work together superbly (I have a particular love of the mandolin) and the title is witty and perfect!

Sounds great
to me. You are one of the artists on MJ that I can't stress the reality of my comments enough. For better or worse, MJ has a culture of "Love it, etc". But I really only comment on songs I really actually like. Everything you post is superb. I see it being played while a mother admires her newborn. Then the music slowly fades and we're left with just the mother humming the melody to the newborn. It's a beautiful melody.

Great Song
I wouldn't worry about the mandolin. What you put down here is very good. I like the production and playing very much, and the song itself is excellent. Great atmosphere.

If this is..
what you play when you can't 'play what you hear in your head', then I'm doubly impressed! Very nice, understated style. Simple, yet wonderfully evocative.

the title is perfect
i can't imagine this improving in any way. the mando is perfect for the slow, simplicity of the song. i love the duet/conversation of guitar and mando. a lovely piece - perfect for a slow dance.

Lovin it!
That mando is just fine, but know what ya mean when the instrument runs so far ahead. Sometimes ya just gotta say be done with it indeed and glad you did... this is elegant.
