1970's

Description
I always wanted to write a glam rock song and when I found a MIDI loop that fitted it all rolled into action, plus I was listening to a programme on the radio about Chinn and Chapman who wrote most of the big glam hits of the era so it's a sort of homage to them.
I had to hone the lyrics down as I could so easily have got carried away.
It's just a bit of fun anyway
Hope you like it

Lyrics
1970’s
Only three channels on the TV
A bit of glitter and a bit of glam
and Marc Bolan singing telegram sam

1970’s
the decade that made me
1970’s
the decade that made me

Chopper bikes and space hoppers
The sweeney and bent coppers
Star wars and darth vader
Betamax and space invaders

1970’s
the decade that made me
1970’s
the decade that made me

Men in make up and platform boots
Before they changed the name of opal fruits
Something’s are gone but not forgotten
And I remember Johnny Rotten

1970’s
the decade that made me
1970’s
the decade that made me

the ending
I wasn't sure how to end it. If anything it's a nod to steve jones the sex pistols guitarist.
Glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in

the sweet
On the radio programme about chinn and chapman they played the rough demo of ballroom blitz recorded on a little tape machine..and it sounded fantastic.
I could only hope to try to emulate some of the feel of those recordings of the era.
Don't think I did too badly ;-)
Thanks for dropping in and many thanks for your comments

Brilliant!
Wow, this took me back! What a great take on glam. I think you've found your genre. Pull on that lurex and strut your stuff! You've got that stomping bass spot on. And isn't soundsnap a place of wonder and enchantment - and things to nick. Excellent stuff mr. Bee.

soundsnap
Cheers Smokey.
I've downloaded a fair bit of stuff off soundsnap..but haven't got round to using much.
I thought that the condition for use was you had to mention where you got the sample from..I think.
Anyway, glad you liked me take on the glam era. I might have to do another one after this;-)
Thanks for dropping in and your kind comments

Glitter!
Great glam rock sound - like the imagery you've created with the lyrics. The 70s is my decade so I can relate to this... I think I'd prefer the space hopper image though!

glitter ball
Thanks Pete.
I had a feeling you'd like it.
I decided against the hopper and the chopper because they've both been re-invented for the noughties..but I think the glitter bands career is beyond repair ;-)
Anyway, cheers for dropping and and your comments

1970's
Fantastic! Good times. I know this is meant to be funny, but I actually really love this. It's not quite the same, but I love that 70's Rock Opera stuff. Kitty too actually.

1970's
It's sort of a cross between fun..and a homage.
I grew up on Bowie, The Sweet, Suzi Quattro and all the other glam stuff.
It was a daft era but good fun.
Anyway, glad you ( and Kitty) liked it.
Thanks for dropping in
cheers

I was born in
April of 1980, but I was officially "made" in the 70's. Nevermind. I'm just trying to be a part of this rocking glam jam. The drum/clap/bass dropouts are so absolutely perfect.

Great lyrics and a perfect hook 'the decade Dad made me' - can't be beat. Great interpretation of 70's glam, too. Love it. :)

I am definately a child of the late 80s

but let me say that this song changed my life!!!! how do i download it and put it on my Ipod?

this is great and I love the integral use of the sound clip, and the modest backing guitar to really make the song solid....and the glam-trem at like 3:10 and the breaking up end......

too perfect!!!

If you want to download it it's the 'floppy disc' symbol at the end of the row of the pictures with the heart up the top of the page.
It's only 3 chords E G and A but seemed to capture the feel of those glam songs.

Sounds damn authentic Chin & Chapman to me
Lyrics are brilliant, too good for the '70s.
What no mention of 'Devil Gate Drive' lol
The Glitterband, I mean seriously how could they have looked at themselves in the mirror particularly on a bad day and said; 'Great lets do this'
Brings me right back, thanks for the flinch
Brilliant.
