Gypsy Heart

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
This is a brand new song! Just a demo right now as the vocal track comes from the original GB demo Kelli made at home, and then Jim shoehorned it into his arrangement of the music using the Time Stretch tool in Logic 9, and we'll definitely redo this as soon as we can. Written and sung by Kelli and all music played by Jim.

Lyrics
As sure as the night as sure as the sky
sure as a stranger just passing by
sure as a sidewalk sure as a lawn
another gypsy heart is broken

As sure as a needle as sure as knife
As sure as razor opening wide
As sure as a shotgun as sure as a shell
another gypsy heart is broken

Broken in two
torn in two
scattered in pieces
Battered and blue
shards on the ground
can’t bear the sound
another gypsy heart is broken

As sure the desert as sure as the wind
as sure as a mountain as sure as sand
as sure as a canyon is deep and wide
another gypsy heart is broken

Broken in two
torn in two
scattered in pieces
Battered and blue
shards on the ground
can’t bear the sound
another gypsy heart is broken

Broken in two...

As sure as forever as sure as a stone
As sure as a scar as sure as a tone
As sure as forever as sure as time
another gypsy heart is broken

Broken... Broken in two
torn in two
scattered in pieces
Battered and blue
shards on the ground
can’t bear the sound
another gypsy heart is broken (3 times)

Gypsy Heart
Comfortable & peaceful song with quite a strong country-folk flavor. Nice production & vocal. Cheers / Mike

Very Mellow
With just enough country and just enough modern edge. Great vocals.

Gonna be great
I already really like this even though it has some obvious rough flaws like the on and off timing of the vocals. But it's a great song, words, melody, Kelli's great voice and the arrangement is already so warm and alive.

Very enjoyable as is but I won't tell you I don't know for a fact that it'll sound even better when it's done. Sounds like a real big hit in the making. A little male harmony with Kelli here and there would probable really work well in there.

anymore
presence and I'd have to ask you move over on the couch. Kudo's on making it work this well with using a stretch time tool. This sounds tightly shoehorned. Kelli's voice makes me a lil breathless.

Sure
This is spectacular. I always love listening to Kelli's voice — it is so expressive, pretty, and to my ears completely ready for major airplay — and you've made it sound very much like the two of you are in the same space, together a couple of other musicians. I'm really impressed.

man, i do like the fritters!
i really dig this project, especially (as KTB notes) the intimacy of it. just quality through and through. i know some people have commented on the vocal timing (not picking on anyone but i've seen that same type of comment on other fritters tunes) but i LOVE when you're off timing, especially that "another - pause - gy-pause-psy heart is broken line, just terrific.

You've got your own sound, but if I hear anyone it's Tift Merritt, which is about the highest praise i can think to give a gal singer because Tift Merritt is, well, she's TIFT MERRITT.

you guys should be in the regular rotation on sirius/xm outlaw country, i can hear mojo introducing the song now.

Fantastic
A DL for sure. I'm putting a mix together for my mom's birthday and this is certainly going to be featured. I'd love to hear some harmony on it.

I don't think
there's been a Fritters' song that I haven't loved. Kelli, your voice has such a nice ring to it - a little Kasey Chambers, a little Martha Wainright. Nice backing too - I'm sure you'll take this a few notches higher when the recording gets re-jigged.
Lovely song also.
