Lyrics
Late breakfast, check the news, soon it's half past eleven,
Kid's ready for the PM school
Wasn't that long ago, recall imtimate moments
Your parents did the same to you.

The time will come when those tiny arms that tug
Won't ask for you to hold or give a hug
Memories are heartbeats sounding through all the years
Echoes never fading of our smiles and tears
The word is not too strong for a song that will soon be gone

The day will sneak up subtly just as it did with me
Recall the last time your child sat on your knee
Like those sacred, pre-dawn feedings we cherished time alone
Our children grow and leave (behind) special times we've known

When your child comes to you with books that you can share
Or asks that you would help him say his prayer
When he comes to chat or would like to take a walk
Rethink if you wanna say "no time to talk".
You have to play your part, cultivate by heart

Remember what all parents learn so many times too late
Years go by too quickly and childhood doesn't wait
Take every opportunity, if one should slip away
Reach for it again and don’t wait for another day

They will sneak up subtly just as they did with me
Recall the last time you built the Christmas tree
Like those fleeting moments we cherished all the time
Our children grow and leave (behind) special times we've known

Searching all the byways and never should you refrain
Want to live your life, gotta drive the train
Promises you have to keep and miles you must travel
Lay grounds before nothing remains

Childhood Doesn't Wait
It happens, quickly. Having Kitty in our band has been a blessing, but also hard to accept that she's a big person now :) The 7 year old too, she wants to learn sax to play with us as well.
Great song... obviously it inspires memories, thank you.

Sweet and tender
this is exactly what I'm going through right now as I watch my 13 year old struggling with all his might to become a totally independent man. It is so hard to let go... to realize my time is past and his is just beginning. There are times I wish for a machine that would make me 13 again so I could spend a few more years with him and watch him grow...

Sigh... Thank you for this... a few tears in the morning never hurt anyone... sniff...

motivation
I admire what you've done here and look forward to listening to your other songs - I appreciate it that you wanted to make music so badly that you just did it - and I like your voice and think you deserve more credit than you give yourself, your singing sounds great to me. There are many things that make for a great voice - feeling, intention, tone, and creativity all factor in. I think you've done a great job and agree with the cat stevens comparison. good work.

Touching
I listened a while ago but my two year-old woke up when I was about to write. I took your advice and let him stay up for a while with me.

Thanks for both treats.

playing with the box
love the 50's ballad toy piano. Very cool, has a playful feel that compliments the concept. i like the fact that it occurred to you to sing about such a traditional subject, in a very traditional way, but with non traditional, indie type composition. one of the great things about MJ is how many talented, cool, and in-tune people there are who aren't afraid to talk about how much they love their kids.

I am simply a music lover, all kinds of music ranging from classical to hard rock. Unfortunately I do not play any instruments nor can I read notes. However, that has not stopped me from composing songs of my own. I normally create my melodies ... [see more]
