Description
it is midnight of halloween. it blinks 12 at the landfill. the electric blue light awakens the dying electronics. a cracked blackberry dances slowly with an unrecognized newton, palm to palm. woofers gather around the hammond organ to boost the once-majestic bass. a shortwave radio connects the world for a short glowing skip. now the electronics are old and neglected. however, they enjoy this last ball together as the last trickle of power warms their friendship. they will soon be buried and forgotten.

please play this music for your electronics on halloween. they will smile.

the music danced
sometimes music tells me to create it. this music happened that way. it was exciting to make. however, near the end, some sounds were not correct. it took many experiments to get the last correct voices shaped. it is a delight to know you enjoyed the story and the music. thank you. 0x0

Or they
will suffer the realization that they, like ourselves are transient. That is of course, if they are sentient. Better not to know. Better to be blind. Or, not. Really, quite lovely, in a somber way. Thanks.

sentience is transient
however, the knowledge of that transience increases the pleasure of sentience. now is always a good time. the music is sweet. the memories are wistful. it was always thus. thank you for listening feeling the story. 0x0

moody organ
it is the organ melody i like most. it was a fruitful experiment. the music was constructed, then it was deconstructed into parts. the parts slowly reform into structure as the piece plays. thank you for listening carefully and enjoying, feter. 0x0

An ingenius concept
and why not. We can't be the only sentients aware of All Hallows' Eve,

As I play this, my iMac is grinning like a kid with cotton candy, and my MacBook is spinning around in circles like Linda Blair's head in the Exorcist.

Very creative piece, thank you for entering this years Halloween Challenge.

The story reminds me of a 60 minutes episode I saw about how the world dumps its E- waste at landfill in China and it is causing major pollution. Anyway, this is very imaginative take on the old theme of the dead dancing at midnight. Well done.

discarding danger
it creates many problems, it damages health, it creates sadness. to live in a highly disposable culture. you perceptively tuned into one frequency of the story. perhaps more people will recycle and take care of this world. thank you for listening carefully. it is time to listen carefully to your music again. 0x0

WALL-E of SOUND
Delicate and intimate, like a moment of internal reverie for a future AI smart phone wanting to be held. Nice variations of sound and rhythmic shifts. (Around the 3 minute mark my ears wanted a bridge, a break out from the 3 chord progression, but the build into the finish was very nice). Kind of a Blackberry Bolero.

well constructed thoughts
such a way you have with words, a "wall-e of sound" gave me a day-long smile. i agree that the bolero-like repetition begins to wear thin at 3 minutes. i am no ravel. i thought about a break/chorus, and should pursue it. perhaps a better version can be built with new parts inserted. thank you for taking time to listen and offer thoughts of what works and what should be worked on. it is cherished input. 0x0

Great imagery! It sounds kind of eery. Like something straight out of a Tim Burton movie! Lots of interesting parts to this. Love your choices for instrumentation! I can picture all the relegated electronics dancing in the moon light!

Love the title. My job, we actually deal with that stuff a fair bit... wonder if this is the blissful sound they make before they realize they are going through a shredder :P
Great imagery in this song, love the echoy delay stuff, reminds me a bit of Sid Barrett meets the 80's, but cooler!

hallows fiction
i was immediatly drawn into this, sucked into a deep vortex of complimenting sounds. this is not only eerie and dark, but it is playful. its a disturbing maybe morbid playfulness, but may just be innocent fun in the hands of its beholder. I imagine this is what halloween feels like lost in space. very cool piece.

my dead MDD 1.42 will start working on midnight,Oct. 31? The fried power supply will grow new parts and I'll hear the chimes of life coming from inside the closet? Cool... This song sounds somber, but paints a humorous picture- all the dead computers and phones crackling to life.

Love the back story
as others have said - why not? This is a very cool composition with a really fine layering of the sounds (wish I could get it this way). I like how you have this tuba-like underpinning to the whole piece which makes the rest of the themes hang, or should I say dance, together.

Nice job, really great production, and most enjoyable tune. Dloaded.

Be well,
Doug

Intricate ..
.. and flows and weaves it's way in a mangles of wires .. to have their gold recycled... hopefully.

It had an interesting quality that some parts of the melody sounded as if they could have continued with the same voicing but switched into another .. like a bit call & answerish .. I liked that aspect.

the universe is hopeful that re-incarnation is the future of electronics, as not doing so can be deadly.

My iPod is glowing weird
...you know, the human body is a biological web of wiring and chemicals designed to pass electrical currents. In fact, to put it one way, the only real difference between a dead body and a live one is the presence of electricity.

So what are these electronic devices that surround us, really? And if they ever begin to think, would we realize it? Would we notice, or would we be too busy watching the latest episode of "Teen Fools Gone Wild At Rio" to realize that the big-screen plasma was now watching us?

If I ever notice a mysterious playlist appearing on my iPod that says "Destroy All Humanity"..........

it is always a real treat to have boris shine his light on my music. hmm... a video for this? now there is a thought or 7. it could become many things, abstract imagery, or stop-motion zombie circuit cards rising from a Tim Burton-esque landfill, or... drat... now you have planted that grain of sand in my shell, i must work on your pearl of wisdom, because the video is now growing under my skin. it is a welcome jewel of an idea. now to find time to nurture it. thank you sir R, always.

Dang ,I shouldn't sometimes
read other comments before I write my own.I had already got a Burtonesque feel from this before I read your comment....and one or two others that I agreed with before ,if you know what I mean.I like the imagery and the idea formed in my head is a pile of electric junk doing a transformer (that is also nearly a pun as well) like switch to a dancer and celebrating the witching hour......and I do not see why not ,I swear...a lot..no..that electric gizmoes have a life of their own so why not a spooky sort of afterlife .Top Hole .

similarity breeds contentment
There are number of techniques that I employ to create music, however, they are finite. So yes, there are some similarities between these two pieces, and you have a very good ear. They are both slow minor-mode pieces, with a variety of synth voices folding in and out... and the classic ic42 fast tinkly arpeggios, and the telltale wow-bass sound I like so much. I am surprised and pleased that you listened to them both, thank you for your thoughts on my music.
