Lyrics

Wouldn't Change a Thing

You complain

About the lines on your face

Attributes people pay to erase

I don't know what point they're trying to prove

If it were me, that's the last thing I'd endeavor to remove

Cause it’s our flaws that make us perfect

It’s our wrongs that make us right

Like the thunderclouds around the sun

Magnify the light

And if our wandering makes us faithful

If our lying makes us true

Then I wouldn’t change a thing about you

You complain

About the lines on your face

But they're souvenirs of a time and a place

I don't know what you want to forget

But someday when we're totally gray it'll make a nice vignette

Cause it’s our flaws that make us perfect

It’s our wrongs that make us right

Like the thunderclouds around the sun

Magnify the light

And if our wandering makes us faithful

If our lying makes us true

Then I wouldn’t change a thing about you

Excellent guitar
intro work... Loved it. The vocals are clear and clean and right there up front. Very nicely done! The lyrics are very cool... I love how you don't use typical words to end in rhyme.

Excellent song and great work all around!

Wouldn't Change a Thing
Its refreshing to hear a song which relies only upon guitar and voice to make it's point. Strong lyrics, especially the chorus. Excellent vocals and guitar work.

excellent
compelling and deliciously ambiguous lyrics, keep me chewing on them long after the song is done, well paced... and yes, I hear a bit of the master Croce in your voice and guitar, very nice work! Welcome to Macjams.

I was just reading about how Michael Jackson didn't like growing older. And thought this brought that in perspective.

Way to go for a first post, or even a 100th post !

Pointed Paradoxes
A charmingly personal and understated arrangement provides this gentle review of some of Life's ironic paradoxes with a very pleasant setting.

I could easily agree that I... wouldn't change a thing... about your approach here. It does play very nicely. But somewhat paradoxically, what I hear ever-so-faintly on the aural threshold (flute?) may be a wee bit TOO subtle, even after re-listening on headphones. It could add a very sweet dimension to the piece, if it was more audible.

I also hear brief bass overtones toward the end that may or may not be transient proximity responses of your guitar. Whatever they are, they suggest another pleasing potential dimension to your arrangement... whether an upright bass or a cello, I believe it would only add to the overall effect of your arrangement.

These are merely suggestions, not at all criticisms. It's a wonderful, pithy song and your style and performance are very engaging. Very nicely done. Welcome to MacJams. ;)

Folk style is my favorite, and this song is great. I love the lyrics and your singing. This reminds me of Fogelberg. Sweet and simple, and very touching.

Lyrics...
...Easily some of the best I've read...Vocal performance is really compelling, clear, up front, and easy to understand without having a lyric sheet to help. The simple arrangement is perfect, too, though I bring up the strings a bit. Welcome to MJ. Hope to hear much more of your music.
Peace.

Thanks for all the nice comments
And the warm welcome! And it's true, the synth pad and the string bass have crossed the line from subtle to inaudible, which I ought to address--I look forward to more sharp-eared feedback!

Whoa
Firstly composition and melody beautiful. Top vocal, and perfectly recorded. Wonder what a string pad would sound like. Awesome work, you're already at the top.

Sometimes
...there's nothing more powerful than a single voice and a lone guitar singing of a simple truth that exists in every heart, but can't be found anywhere in the world that shouts at us from every TV, every radio, every nonsense amped-up idiot box with a handful of nothing to sell.

A beautiful piece that resonates with real, human love.
