A while back, the principal at the school where I teach asked me to write a song which would encourage our students to do well on our Indiana standardized test, called the ISTEP test. So I did, and we have used the song many times in the last few years. The kids and the teachers seem to like it. I posted the ISTEP song here on MJ a few years ago, here:

Last week, a principal in New England e-mailed me, and said that she found my ISTEP song while looking for a song to motivate her students to do well on their standardized test, the NECAP test. (Stands for New England something something something.) She asked me to re-do the song but swap NECAP for ISTEP. So I did, and here's the result. I even got paid! A win-win. I love music.

John Stebbe — Randy Newman.... a marriage made...??? Glad to hear your original was picked up by another district in another area. You've written a wonderful little inspirational tune that's easy to sing and remember, and your lyrics fit the topic so well, too. Bonus: John Stebbe singing! Now THAT was a welcomed surprise. Bravo! Of course, the J.S. panache at the keyboard is NOT a surprise at all, just a welcomed inevitability. Hey, thanks for posting this, John. It's a very cool number.
Peace.
