Description
This is an old mix, resurrected as a warm up, atmospheric intro to my 'Space Race Challenge' entries.

The track tries to depict some far flung outpost of humanity, probably around Delta Pavonis, where the usual comings and goings of craft (of all shapes and sizes) would be the same to anyone sat looking through the window of whatever passes for the local Hilton or Holiday Inn as anyone looking out the hotel window at Chas de Gaulle, here on Earth.

I've been quiet over the last few weeks with various items grabbing both my focus and attention, but one must move on and come to terms with all sorts of things that life throws at you. Some you duck and some you have straight in the face. You just have to keep things moving along and one day these trials will be behind you.

This mix comes from sometime earlier this year, and was originally going to be part of another web album, but I never finished any of the tracks completely so never finalised the album.

The track is not perfect, production-wise, but I've tamed it a lot since the initial mix. Honest!!!

As always, please let me know your thoughts.

Accustomed Territory
Paul,
I am starting to feel like I live somewhere in the vacinity of your extra-terrestrial world. Each new soundscape sounds familiar yet somehow unique because of the care you take with the mix of so many elements in your work. No one comes close to emulating that "other world" like you do. To have put this one in terms of vision makes it seem even that much more "real." Another "stellar" depiction of another world, another place. [I hope you WILL finish all these tracks so that you have a compendium of all this work collected in just one place.]
Peace.
Paul

Hi Paul.....
I inhabit this imagination space every evening and weekend, as I read my current space opera novel, drinking in the marvels and revelling in the powers of imagination. The music that I create, depicting these scenes, is my path of least resistance. It has been honed over 40 years into what it is today.

I will most probably finish the existing mixes or make others, to complete at least two other web albums. I just need my focus back.

Thank you as always, for your kind words.

Take care.

Hi Mark.......
The novel I am reading at the moment has a ship travelling between the stars that is 6 kilometers long, so your idea seems perfectly reasonable to me.

I currently live in 'Revelation Space' the space opera by Alastair Reynolds, a British astronomer. It is where likeminded souls dwell as the stories unfold.

Take care.

Ouch!
You call this (slightly chilly) piece a warm up?! I'm thinking of giving up my attempt in the challange. I'm just not getting anywhere, let alone out into space ;-) Well, I'll have another go this evening and see what'll happen.

Great piece this, I'll just want to echo what Paul said...

Take care, you master of the space ambient universe!

Hi Henke.....
I have not created anything of any substance for a few weeks and so had to trawl my unfinished mixes from earlier this year. I came up with seven likely candidates for the Space Race Challenge 2009 and this piece was my least favourite. I apologise if I upset you in any way. It was not my intention.

I didn't like certain things about this mix and it needed more work so I thought of a warm up to the real thing. That was it really.

I'm really glad that you liked this piece. It gives me peace to think that it wasn't received as badly as I thought it might.

Take care.

Warm up?
Leave it to you to nail the sci-fi theme. I'm with Henke on this. I don't know if I want to post my humble offerings after this piece of quintessential space ambient. Well done, sir.

Hi Duane.......
You (and Henke) should post your work. I look forward to any work you both put up here at Macjams.

Again. Sorry if I upset you with my description. I did not mean to put anyones nose out of joint. It was meant purely as a personal poke and that I should pull my finger out and get on with things.

I look forward to your own piece/s over the coming days.

Take care.
