Description
Never Say Goodbye - James Bond Theme

Somewhere in the deep south, at a drag racing strip covered by the noise of the drag racers, one of the Evil Doctor Lioli's triggermen, disguised as 007, kills one a MacJams CIA's agents using a Walther PPK with a silencer on it, then casually walks over to a motorcycle hidden behind some bushes, starts it up and quickly rides away.

The woman the 007 impostor had been talking to, looks down and realizing the man has been shot by the Bond impersonator, calls 9111. She gives the 9111 operator a description of the man and the motorcycle he's riding. As the impostor rides away, a State Trooper arrives, followed by some paramedics. The woman points to the guy on the bike and yells out, "he's the one , he shot this guy", While the paramedics see to the injured man, the trooper takes off in pursuit of the man on the motorcycle. Soon the State Trooper is joined by other police in their pursuit, but the killer is too crafty for them. In a move worthy of Evil Kanivel, the impostor jumps from the elevated highway onto the roof of a parking garage and gets away, causing the trooper to crash into a retaining wall. As another cop takes up the chase, the impostor fires into that cop car and the patrol car explodes in a ball of flame, killing the officer.

Back at MI-5 a call goes out from "M" to collect 007 and bring him to headquarters for questioning, a briefing and some specific instructions about where he's going and what he can expect. It seems that something so seemingly small as the killing of a relatively low level MacJams CIA agent, has grown into a major concern for "Her Majesty's Secret Service", since the MacJams CIA thinks 007 is the killer. So the only one who can fix it, is Bond, James Bond.

Staring Shawn Conary as 007 & the Triggerman

Penelopy Keeth as Miss Moneypenny

Richard Breers as "M"

And introducing Doctor Lioli, as himself

Well, this is a "MacJams" James Bond Challenge, isn't it?
So it figures it would be a "MacJams CIA" agent that got offed.

I just decided to have some fun with this challenge, so I did, glad you enjoyed the ride Mark. Thanks for listening and the kind words my friend,

Ed

I hear tell
there's a theory gong around that Dr LIOLI isn't really dead, he just got blown ahead in time. If it's true, we might have to defend ourselves against the Evil CDoctor again someday.

Better be careful and keep an eye out for trouble.

Well, when you're trying to get the call from the producer,
ya gotta make the music fit the script. The write up is what the producer sent me, and I just followed his lead.

Thanks for listening Vic. I'm glad you enjoyed this little diversion into a deranged mind, and I appreciate the kind words on it.

Be well my friend,

Ed

You wrote a movie?
And the entire opening sequence too! What a blast this is: you've become one of MacJam's master arrangers, Ed, did you know that? Cooking together layers and layers of music, sound effects and auditory magic into a spellbinding story that washes over us in huge waves. I'm in the first row down in front, eyes wide and lost in the big screen towering above me as your images and sounds flood my mind.

Excellent entry. And I always thought that Doctor Lioli would someday return - nobody ever explained where his space station went when the LOPMAL-CARSAPS feedback wave caused him to disappear...........!
sloparts said 2852 days ago (October 3rd, 2009)
Thank you for the kind comments,
on this song. It was a lot of fun stretching out and trying this kind of an arrangement. A thoroughly enjoyable experience for me.

I can't really say anything about the other part of you comment, except that there are people here who are the real deal, and as much as I appreciate you comment about being a "Master arranger", it would presumptuous of me accept such a statement unchallenged. I am a pretender to the throne, as it were, and unworthy of such accolades. I am, however, humbled and honored by your kindness for even entertaining such a thought.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Wowie!
You know how to paint a picture, Ed! I love the horns at about 2:20--raising the tension...and then it gets funky. If I ever do a movie I want you to score it!

Thanks B, nice of you to say that. Glad you liked this one and were kind enough to let me know.

This was a fun challenge, but then I guess they all are fun if you just let them be.

Thanks again for the kind words B

is I wrote the theme for the wrong script. Damn I hate it when that happens.

I wasn't sure where to take this when I started,
But I finally came up with what seemed a workable idea. It's not up to Hollywood standards, but then the Bond films were mostly done in England anyway ;-)

Thanks for the listen Ridd and the kind words.

I entered this challenge with some trepidation, never having tried a film score before. But after I got into working on it it just became fun for me, like all the other challenges I've done since coming here.

And it really doesn't matter if it's good or not, so much as that I learn something from the experience of trying it. That's the real joy in these MacJams challenges.

Thanks for listening and the kind words Roxy, I'm glad you enjoyed the show.

Thanks for the listen and the kind words Johnny.

In Love With Those Horns
...that start rising into prominence about halfway through. Not that there's plenty to love here - the richly detailed audio tour leads us through the action, with the dangerous music grand and epic. I'm watching in rapt attention as Bond heads to the deep south to begin following the trail of intrigue... I can smell the asphalt of the racetrack and the perfume of the women, feel the heat of the sun on my face and the cool metal of the gun in my hand.

One of the things I love about this is how skillfully you blend sound effects and musical loops into stylized musical signatures, Ed. Your earlier 'Messing With The Machine' came up recently in my iTunes rotation, and it's only after several listens that I can pick out individual loops - sometimes ones I've actually used - because they're so smoothly integrated into the big picture.

This one takes it to another place, another situation, and ups the ante more than a few notches - and it works. Tons of fun, slyly done and rock solid.
sloparts said 2849 days ago (October 7th, 2009)
Thank you mr_mordenus
This is kind of a mini movie, only without the movie. The story in the info section sets the listener into the right frame of mind for the music to paint visual picture in the listener's mind as they listen to the score.

The various sound effects just connect the dots for the listener and help to keep him or her connected to the "movie" in their mind.

And now, as my old mentor used to say, "if you can't blind them with brilliance, then by all means baffle them with bullsh-t. ;-)

nough said.

Thanks again my friend,

Ed

Nice to see you back from you sabbatical and dong music again.

Glad you enjoyed this one Marc. it was tremendous fun putting this one together. Every time I do one of these challenges I always learn something new about music and myself.

Imagine that, learning something and having fun at the same time. This could catch on and maybe start a new fad or trend.

Thanks again for the listen and the kind words Marc. it is really appreciated.

This has some pretty darned amazing guitar sounds and playing in it. I love the story and the effects throughout. The orchestral stuff is fitted real well too. The groove is the master in this one, it just grabs you.

Every time I enter one of these challenges
I learn something new about music, and about myself. I think just maybe, I missed my calling in life. I should have stuck with music as my real career, instead of just trying to make a living anyway I could and doing music when I could. Oh well, such is life.

Thanks for listening Stephen and the wonderful comments. I'm really pleased you found something to like in this little exercise. This was really fun for me to do.

Be well and be cool Stephen
