Enchanted Forest

Description
And enchanted forest...scene...maybe (eventually) part of a little suite. We'll see where this goes. Not an "on-your-car's-speakers" kind of number. More suited to a headset or a very quiet room.

nice job Paul
As Always, you can turn anything into a masterpiece with your talent. I do disagree about the "Not on your car speakers" comment. This is great driving music to me, and anywhere else too! Out on a country drive? peaceful and beautiful. thanks Paul!.

Lovely work
Very evocative.

I'm getting hints of menace that drift in and out like a rustle in the bushes until you realise it's just a bird.

Beautifully done

Thanks

Dick

This was great
to come to on a Monday morning... The first section was so relaxing... near the end it sort of built into the tensions of the day but then said... its gonna be just fine...

Hmmmmmm this is all so solemn ..deep and
thoughtful like a prayer ...the clarinate

drakonis said 51 days ago (October 5th, 2009)
contemplative
as the light filters down lazily onto the forest floor, a gentle breeze hints first at a possible storm, but then settles into just a cool aire. :-) Love the clarinet line.

I love the patient progression. Very delicate. Every chord placed just so. Elegant.

Soft and Moody
Soft and moody and so-o-o-o relaxing..... love the clarinet which gives a feeling of warmth as I get those same hints of slight or imagined danger that Dick felt in some of those ponderous bits, but a lovely piece with a hint of mystery, Regards M

Hi Paul......
This is a really beautiful piece of music. Again. One of my favourites from you.

I could listen to this piece anywhere and I would chill immediately into a relaxed state of mind.

Thank you and take care.

It's always a treat to listen to your work, Paul
And this is no exception.

As with all "Enchanted" forests, there is beauty, and danger intertwined in the fabric of the forest. Such is the case with your music here my friend.

But because the forest if Enchanted, we know everything will end up alright, and so it does.

Wonderful Paul, I do think you need to expand on this as you suggested you might do.

Be well my friend,

Ed

Wow...
...isn't this something. I love the clarinet...such a beautiful way to enter the forest. Beautiful artwork, btw. Subtle clashes of color...what a beautiful piece, Paul. Bravo, maestro! Bravo!

Got my best phones on
and I'm digging this space very much. Excellent sustain of the tone and emotion here Paul - quite cinematic in it's own way. I love how you play winds they way they would be played, with breathing in mind. Quite wonderful - this. I just got little feel of John Williams/Spielberg near the end. I hope you don't mind the comparison - there work together on AI was pretty amazing in parts.

Headphones on...
and I can almost see the sunlight filtering through the tress, until I walk deeper into that forest. Was that a shadow, or is something there, moving alongside me? I stop to listen- relief, it's just the wind. Wait- the tress are talking, Narnia style.

Beautiful
It is genuinely a delight to discover your music. What are your sources for your orchestral sounds - I like them indeed. I dream of Vienna Symphonic Library, but right now it is a little out of my reach (and my computer's hard drive space). I am new to MacJams and it is actually because of you that I discovered it. I also recently joined iCompositions and it is there that someone recommend I check you out over here on MacJams, Thank you for the beauty you are creating and providing. You are generous indeed.

I think you have a group of composing elves
that toil away ceaselessly under your expert guidance to flesh out your inspirations. How else can you create such magic in such volume so quickly?

The selection of the clarinet and simple orchestration is perfect for this quiet setting. The long phrases and sustained notes in the clarinet suggest to me lots of unhurried time to look around. The hold and slight change just before 3:00 is brilliant. It's like rounding a bend on the path, anticipating what's in the next clearing, and finding a delightful sunbeam illuminating the leaves on an autumn-hued sapling.

You offer us so much to learn from in how you paint with tones. As you say, this is a quiet room number where the subtleties you wove into the string lines have to be really heard well to be appreciated.

Glorious.

Peace,
Doug

oh this is sublime
clarinet....what an excellent choice. earthy and organic. smooth and soulful. i was watching Earth last night and thinking of you and listening to the music - and was struck by how the composer managed to create a majestic and triumphant mood while also never losing the hint of despair and tragedy. you have done exactly the same thing here - the pace and flow and timbre of the song is relaxing and soothing. there is little dissonance to distract my ear. but the minor (is it minor or is this a tonal piece?) key never lets me forget that the forest is a vast, dark place full of things i can't see and know nothing about. brilliant composition as always, and your use of the instrument software here is just stunning.

Love the sonorities
In the strings: beautifully lush Romantic chords. Reminds me a little of Samuel Barber in its hushed complexities. I actually wish it went on longer, but as is it's a great tone poem.
