The Riverside (with Ed sloparts sitting in)

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
My good buddy Ed was gracious enough to volunteer his bass guitar a while back on this new version. I'm glad he did. Finally, I'm getting around to posting it. Also new on this version is some slide guitar to go with the original vocals, acoustic guitar, and harmonica.

Just a loosey, goosey folk song for the late night crowd still in the house...

Gosh, I wish I could meet all these people I've been privileged to collaborate with these past 5 plus years...

Lyrics
The Riverside

Have troubles got you so entwined
Tangled up and undermined?
Then make a line down to the riverside.

So-called friends may malign
The breaks of life are so unkind
Just slip your mind down to the riverside.

Life dishes out unfair heartache
Trying, you can't catch a break
There's give and take down at the riverside.

Some dream that life's a piece of cake
In denial till they wake
For goodness sake come down to the riverside.

Hey my friend Chauncey, he's no fool
He understands life is cruel
But he knows it's cool down by the riverside.

For him this is the golden rule
Others play the stubborn mule
Here's hoping you'll come down to the riverside.

Come unwind, it's not too late
Bear in mind, don't hesitate.
Come clean your slate down at the riverside.

Just grab a plate of peace of mind
Don't debate, if you're so inclined.
Sit and dine down at the riverside.

Sounds Great Jack
Love the slide guitar you put in, and the mix came out terrific. I could say something about that bass player, but I'm not sure what to say about him, except maybe he's getting old.

Love the song, love the new tracks and the mix. Kudos Jack you done good dude.

Heheh...
I was just about to comment on the Halloween Man words, when "Poof" he disappeared!

Glad you like it Ed. Your a brick for jumping in with your bass, anchoring this little folk ditty. It would be cool if we could be up some old platform performing this for a bunch of good old folks somewhere.

Thanks...

The slide guitar and Ed's bass spice up this version. I love it. If you guys were playing at the coffeehouse, I'd be asking for encores.

I think it works....
...to have that bass in there...

You tend to use a rather trebly and somewhat metallic tone on your acoustic guitar sometimes, Jack, and I think it works to couple that sort of tone with a deeper tone... Each instrument ends up with its bit of the sonic territory...

Still a neat tune....

Thanks Ed...

The other "Ed's" bass makes a big difference in my ear... good to know you like the addition, also. The ChannelStrip plugin has been helping quite a bit on the "sonic territory" thing.

Don't Worry be . . .
Nice laid back bluesy down by the riverside on a cool spring day kind of song. A parts blend well together, great lyrics and vocals. But that harmonica is stealing the show! The slide guitar is appealing too . . .

This song gives a relaxing philosophic folk lesson. Sometimes it even has a Dylan-esque quality to it. Very nice,

water
yes indeed, there is something magical about being near water - a river, a lake, an ocean, doesn't matter. especially in August with your best friends, in the late afternoon, campfire, a few beers, maybe a guitar...
