Description
Hey folks. Its been a while.
This is my first attempt at recording my band (TNTrio) in earnest. I got a bunch of new recording gear which I got to experiment with on this song. The performance isn't our best, and this particular song doesn't really showcase the musicianship of the band, but for the first time I got to try my hand at tracking drums, keys, and vocals simultaneously, and then mix them down.
I recorded initially into Studio One, a software that came bundled with my Presonus Firestudio Mobile. Then I bussed it over to GB 09 to mix it down, simply because I'm way more familiar with it.
So, let me know what you guys think! How's the mix?

Lyrics
deciphering the times like hieroglyphics on the wall
most of these cats shouldn't cypher at all
its like the viper that tempted us from Eden to fall
its greed and lust speaking to us all these demons evolve
from the shadows to the currents of the mainstream
the river styx taking hip hop down to Hades
cheap horror flicks while she's screaming "someone save me"
drowning in whatevers fashionable lately
sometimes it feels like I'm speaking latin
reading classics full of knowledge thats forgotten by the masses
lighting matches in the tunnels of the catacombs
pungent air filled with methane choked my breath so I had to go
and find some fresh air, all I find is flashing lights and harsh glare
sinking in the afterlife my hearts there
stowed beneath the soil six feet deep in a rotting coffin
once the home of free street speech, nobody's talking
but everybody's rhyming, saying nothing
silence defeaning, I'm a dead man walking
I used to love her too
everything I did and everything I do
now everything is blue
I used to love her too
I know it can't be true
she was everything I knew
Claw my way out of the grave
a single arm emerges from the earth
beneath the headstone in the cemetery where I stay
searching for some brains
but heads are empty bobbing to the corporate
hypnotic toxic radio waves
false messiahs preaching wack philosophies
rotting prophecies as if its hard to see
this industry is a monopoly
stunned by the monotony, let out a shout for freedom
just like Gibson did in Braveheart but was drowned by the cacophony
skeptical like Socrates, a gadfly
treating wack rappers like vigilantes do bad guys
thats why I never catch a bad rap
but fans are hard to come by
the school of hip hops empty
theres no students just alumni
I miss her more than sunshine, my skin is getting bleached
leached of color like the skeletons beneath the surface
where I sleep, at home with the deceased
the company I keep, but believe me when I say
that she will never rest in peace
thats why she finds release
in the lyrics that I speak
and every other MC who's love for her is deep
thats why she finds release
in the lyrics that I speak
and every other MC who's love for her is deep

with emotion, like the refrain how you bring the bass up. Cool piano I would have mixed the reverb on the vocals instead of the drums. I like the little (howl?) at the very end! Cool song
