Description

Going retro with Logic 9 amp sims. This is the first tie that i used Logics amp sims on all guitar tracks. Since it is a bit of a retro rock tune I chose vintage amps like tweeds and a pawnshop amp with a 8" speaker. They sound great but will take up some cpu power.

On the verse guitars I also split the chords in two between the two guitars one plays two lower notes and the other player two higher notes. not a big deal but it does give some better definition when you deal with overdrive.

You hit that retro target dead center. Guitar work is great, and the amp sims chosen highlight the guitar lines in a way that resonates to those of us that grew up listening to 60's and 70's rock. Maybe the song could benefit from a bridge that underscores the sadness of a person that devotes that much time to celebrity gossip (I think the last verse is headed that way), but I think it is good as it is.

One of the great frustrations...
...of my year was seeing the new amp sims in Logic 9 and then reading that it wasn't supported for Power PCs/G5's.... Man... Although I hear that you CAN, maybe, run it on a G5, only... if something goes wrong...

All of which is to say that I'm listening to this and feeling a solid and satisfying envy... Sounds like you're having a lot of fun and are in guitar player heaven...

For all the tracks, every one is audible and clear, not all mushed together, with its own distinct sound....

this was totally done with the sim amps. i have used them on some other recent songs, usually one track. they are pretty cpu intensive though.

the rhythm guitars went through one they call pawnshop prize, i set the gain to full and it has a nice crunch. the lead was through a old tweed amp with the gain cranked and the amp reverb on, it is the same one that neil young uses. it really has that crazy horse lead sound in my opinion.

i know nutty isn't it. i split the chords so i could get a wider and defined stereo field that one guitar couldn't do. besides i wanted to hear how it would sound. the music i had done well before the space challenge. it did come close to being shelved since i had other songs in the works. but it bugs me after a bit to leave a unfinished piece, when the folder is glaring at me every time i turn the 'puter on.

There's Something
About a crisply produced guitar tune that, when it hits the sweet spot it hits right between the eyes. Of course, you and 'guitar sweet spots' are almost synonymous by now. Just love how this sounds from the first hit and the flawless balance of drums, bass and drums. Sometimes simple is the most elusive target to hit and you never miss. Ever. I can almost taste the clarity on my tongue.
