Lyrics
Shelter yourselves, don't let it get to your head
seems like we're marked for life, ain't nothing new there
faces seem so lost in the crowd
we roll our bones for the rest of our lives

we roll our bones through the early light
we roll our bones nearly everynite
we roll our bones when it don't feel right
we roll our bones with all our might

and the rain will come
and the day will come
when we no longer roll along
everybody want to feel like
they're living living in paradise

you know youre wasting all your time
feeling like an alien
ain't nothing going to change for you
until you make the change
and your wasting all your time
feeling like an alien
and you wasted all your time

its like a drop kick to your chest, to your chest
like a drop kick to your head, to your head

we roll our bones through love and war
we roll our bones to the store
we roll our bones on the bus
we roll our bones while we're making love

Tom, this makes me think of
Eddie and the Cruisers II. (this to me is a cool thing, by the way)

I'm not sure why, but I think it's the sound of your voice on this. It just has that kind of sound and feeling.

I like it a lot my friend, it is a very cool song, no doubt.

Love it

Roll Your Bones
Like the way you rush the snare hit in the slow section.. nice drum part. Like the line "drop kick to the chest. bass is a little boomy, stepping on some mid-range frequencies. Cool song overall

Getting on
with day to day life and this is a great way to describe the feelings you have to contend with in order to have an air of simple normality.... great signature sound you've made Tom, love the drums and the guitar sound and the forcefullness in your vocal especially the '...drop kick' lines. Ouch! I could almost feel it, all the best M

The Vox...

Very cool song Tom
You know when I worked with The Clash back in 1980 they used to make fun of Bruce Springsteen - not able to hear the similarity - or maybe they were. Anyway - there's a bit of both in this song - and a whole lot of you - which makes it really special. Love he way it just takes off and keeps on going after the chorus. Excellent guitar, bass, drum work - and spot on vocals. Nice imagery in the lyrics too.

Wow never thought about the similarities...
...between the two but I can definitely see it. I also heard the Springsteen in this (especially the verse) or as Ed says above 'eddie and the cruisers' which is in the same vein. Thanks for that insight

This is quite possibly the COOLEST thing you've posted to date. I love your vocals in this. (Just the right amount of reverb!) Great lyrics. And the arrangement is awesome. Slow funk with a little swing.

Well done bro!

Small cog
That cool, airy guitar got me into this right away; neat beat kept my ears perked up through the verses; chorus provides a nice groove. Ctir? Maybe the vox could get a touch more mid-to-high EQ to bring it up without taking it out of the "inside" of the rest of the band-mix.

Lyrically, I'm getting the feeling that this is about -- using a different metaphor -- being a small cog in a big machine you can't control. Not sure about the specifics, but I do like the picture it paints.

I think this is my intro to your music, and I like it.

B6S :)
Thanks for the listen and you explained it very well. I am not that good at mixing, If I get a good mix it is usually by chance and I feel you are right about the Eq. I know that the current taste in mixing is upfront, panned and in your face but I like the wall of sound type mixing, I like to hear a nuance in a mix a month later that I didnt hear before. I dont know if everyone digs that, but I am not sure I can do it any other way, Cheers!

It's all well-balanced
I'm not sure what the "rage" is in panning, but I like balance -- not spikey parts panned extreme L or R. I occasionally do use hard pans for short, small, supporting pieces pieces but not for major tracks. This is a great mix, I wouldn't at all say that your ears are "newbies" to getting a good, balanced sound as you do here. I also agree that a good mix, with its little details, will reward repeated listens more than a highly compressed "pancake."
