A minor Complication

Description

Well - first off - this is not in A minor - though it started that way. It's in G major - I just like the title. Secondly - I have no idea what this is besides an exorcism of sorts. After a lot of build up and exhaustion surrounding the NYC Decom thing on Saturday, the sudden retirement of Airport Seven's bass player and other mitigating factors I had just about had it with music. So I sat down and did this in the last few hours.
The only loops are drums - though I did loop my own bass part and copied some guitar parts.
I thought this was going to be some kind of Talking Heads nerd rock thing - but now I have no idea what it is. I think I'm just glad I got it out of my system.

BTW - to all of you who might have listened and commented on my Bond and Space songs - I'm really grateful that you did. I'm sorry I didn't reply to your comments as I usually try to. It's been extremely hectic lately.

Too busy
'just too busy to look either side of what's ahead of me right now' is what comes across in this..... as if you got down in music what's going on in your life... sort of cathartic in a way. ...There are a lot of things going on here, most of 'em, in your head...But what a way to share them! This is clever, well-played, nicely recorded, and demanding my attention. Your occasional forays into solo land are very cool. I just wish they were a bit longer on the improv. And the piece just....ENDS. I hear a long fade out...maybe. Anyway, the breadth of your musical interests is amazing and you have such skills in bring them out. This is a very cool track, Bud.

Incredibly Visual
...sometimes I wonder if you play music or just paint with it, in wondrous colourful swirls and glistening wet streaks running down the side of a brick wall while people hurry past in shades of gray. Are they paying attention? Are they fools? What's the big hurry?

Your playing has such an emotional vibe, it's like touching thought. I feel like I could walk up to that brick wall you've covered with wet, flowing colour and if I dragged my finger along the surface the colour would flow along, against gravity and improvising into patterns only I could see.

And then, I'd realize that there's dozens of people at the wall, touching your colours and grinning.

Sorry about the situations with life, bass player and drummers, Bud. If I lived in NYC.... and I played bass.... (kinda reminds me of the old "if I had some ham I could have a ham sandwich if I had some bread" joke) ... clumsy way of sayin' there's a whole lot of nothing I can do except say a bunch of words and toss them your way.

Well, and listen to your music. And run my fingers through the colour...
