Description
This is a redo of a song I submitted here earlier, in a folky style I have been messing with recently. I have to thank my friend, Bryn Roberts for adding some lovely mandocello and pipes.

Feel free to compare with the original here.

Lyrics
oh great light of the broken city,
does your hate still poison the ground around here?
because I did find a certain sickness,
hiding in her narrow lanes and her sideway glances.

and when those left behind collect what remains,
and this is all could that could be saved?

oh great light of hollow triumph,
I did see you replaced by the sun in the sky,
and overcome by the simple words,
by the foldings of school children from all over.

who am I to judge what should and should not be shown,
when this is all that could be saved from the fire?

You're on to something cool here. Love the instrumental breakdown interlude and build back up. Very nice changes, acoustic textures and great layered vocals. Really enjoyed this track.

thanks
couldn't think of anything for the instrumental break for the longest time. then it struck me to play the mandocello with the e-bow and a slide. doubled it, added a reverb-from-hell pipe layer and ended up with a pretty eerie sound. it's really grown on me.

Lovely
but sometimes strange mix of harmonies here... almost discordant, yet adding to a feeling (with the great vocals and harmonies) of 'overcoming'....... a great atmospheric song and sound, regards M

that's a great choice of words, it's exactly what I aimed for lyrically. I am so glad the music matches it.

From the fire
This sounds like the folk side of Jethro Tull's -Minstrel in the Gallery. The vocals are not unlike Ian Anderson's either. Very enjoyable piece.

Jethro Tull
I'll check out that tune, I must admit that I've never actually listened to Jethro Tull, though it sounds like they could be a helpful influence to acquire :)

wow
an amazing piece of music....
the winding melody and changes sl. reminiscent of elliott smith (big fave of mine).
but really its very original sounding...
great singing, cool lyrix (like the line about the foldings of school children. ) the acoustic vibe is perfect.

I grew up on Dire Straits, Def Leppard, Phil Collins, Paul Simon, and Eric Clapton. Then I discovered heavy metal. [long pause] Did the post-rock thing for a while, thinking my 'tortured' soul could could only express itself in chaotic guitar crescen... [see more]
