Description
a love song for my daughter. she turned 9 this year but it's happened so fast. The other day I was carrying her around and when I looked down at her face, she had the same expression she'd have when I'd hold her as a baby. I had a bit of a flashback and it prompted me to write this song.
I wanted this song to be both gentle to represent my unconditional love for her and a little bit aggressive to represent an 'I would die for you' kind of attitude. This one's pretty personal and I was surprised to find myself get a little emotional during the last verse delivery. Funny how it can sneak up on you like that.

Lyrics
When I look into your eyes
I'm reminded
Of the day you opened them for me

You were so dependent and so fragile
When i held you in my arms
I had never felt a love like that
and i never thought I could

I will be here
To be a part of your life
and I will love you
Until the end of time
I'll stand beside you
and i will be your hero
I'll never leave you
You are my whole life

Now your getting older
and so am I
You have made me so proud
To be alive and by your side

You are so beautiful like your mother
and your heart is an example of how I want mine to be

I will be here
To be a part of your life
and I will love you
Until the end of time
I'll stand beside you
and i will be your hero
I'll never leave you
You are my whole life

Thanks man.
Nice double acoustic/electro guitars unison. Nice tone overall in the lead guitar. Gives some roughness to the tender song.
I like the reference in the bridge of you wanting to be like her. Feel the same around here: I learned so much from my little ones.

Thanks for reminding me Ridd
I'd almost forgotten the feelings I had when my daughter was born.

Very well put together and played my friend. I can hear the emotion in your voice as you sing this. These can be hard to sings the first few times, I know.

Be well and thanks again for the D/L

sneaking up
man the best thing about any ballad is the kind of chorus that makes you want to sing at the top of your lungs and drum on the steering wheel in the car and this has that, what a great chorus, just wings up off the verse. truly lighter worthy lol.

craig
i take that as a huge compliment, thanks. I actually wrote the chorus first - something I don't usually do. I read a quote by someone (forget who) that said something like "I write the chorus first because that's most important. Everything else is just #$%# isn't it?". I'm paraphrasing but you get the point. So, I focused on that first and tried to make it huge. Really stoked about your comments man. Thanks a lot.

Unconditional Love In The Form Of ROCK!
Well Ridd, you accomplished what you set out to do. The sweetness of the lyrics and the masterful shreddage of the guitars say, "I'm daddy. I love you and I will bust Buddy Hinton in the mouth if he so much as looks at you again!!"

9 years old and still your baby. I'm sure that will never change. Hope she rocks out to this song the way I did!

Sweet tune
Pink Floyd intro was awesome. Great Ridd-ian vocals. Enjoyed the lyrics as a father of two girls 4, and 12. Yours is 9-cherish this time.

Perfect song

I am so impressed
with your honest performance and delivery. I know so much what you mean about seeing those looks on the kids faces as they grow that you saw when they were babies.

Such a big soaring chorus.
