Someday I'll Meet Curtis

Description
Here's a song I made as a tribute to one of my favorite songwriters ever. This is one of the few persons I've never met that I wish I did. Sometimes it seems that there aren't that many gentle and decent souls in the world, especially if they make it as far in the music business as he did. But you can always listen to Curtis Mayfield if you want to feel like someone cares, everyone should own some of his music to get you thru the roughest of times.

I recorded the bass and rhythm guitar like 'Move On Up" by Curtis Mayfield. Then I plugged in my lead and pretty much stuck to the melody of the song. This is probably pretty close to a cover, but just dissimilar enough for me to justify putting it up,.

Thanks for listening

Smooth ...
Love the Guitar work. Nice mix with percussion and guitar. Groovin' mucho! I can hear the Curtis Mayfield. This is a real kick. Sit back and cruise down the Road Trip song for sure. Gotta download this.

I'm not familiar enough....
...with the full range of Curtis Mayfield to have an opinion on how well this suits his legacy...

What I can say is that I really like the easy, laid back groove, and the short, soulful phrasing on the guitar... Very vocal phrasing on the guitar, which I think IS a sort of Mayfield kind of thing...

I'm gratefully making off with a download of this...

hi ed
yeah if your only familiar with Superfly and Freddie's Dead you probably haven't heard the full range of CM. I hope you have the time to check his lesser known stuff out sometime.
