Description
The board of Anarchy, Inc. is meeting to discuss their performance and some strategic initiatives for the upcoming quarter.

Big ups to Five Extra Arms for championing this effort by designing the official logo for Anarchy, Inc. It may look like a familiar inside joke, but I assure you data shows this logo inspires 8th graders everywhere to beg their parents to buy them hardbound special editions of Steal This Book for Christmas.

Additional big ups to Michael2 for talking up CamelCrusher. I used it for the drums on this track. I was really just kind of moving knobs around until I agreed with the sound so I'm sure they're not great, but I like the direction the drum sound is going.

I'm still looking for tough-love criticisms. I think in the past two years I have made progress on getting a cleaner sound/mix but I'm always looking for suggestions. Thanks!

Lyrics
Anarchy, Inc.
Quarter 3 financial health report
Better than last year's figures
Where are the buyer's triggers?
Make them think they're underground.

We can start a revolution
All we need is data from the focus groups
There's no better way to sell a car, yeah
Than with pictures of Che Guevara
Make them believe they're underground

We can antique bookstore
And turn it to a vegan restaurant
You get enough of books at school
It's more important to be cool
They gotta believe they're underground

Anarchy, Inc.
Quarter 3 financial health report
Better than last year's figures
Where are the buyer's triggers?
Make them think they're underground.

Wow Man- The is the BEST
I made a special visit to check this out today and glad I did. This will be in heavy rotation on my iPod.

Man o man. Yeah, of course, I can hear all the influences here, but your own special twist makes this tune. The ending was incredible.

You knew I loved this anyway.

You and I see eye to eye on the Beatles tunes. The Beatle-y one you just reintroduced on FB was a top tune, too.

You're my favorite Beatle!

(I knew Lava would love this tune - he's my other favorite Beatle)

Does that mean Lava is Stig?
Glad you liked it. Also honored that you put the Dorsey touch on the tune with the kick-a song art and monster sound effects.

oh yeah
you succeeded brilliantly with this one....
melodic as anything, fantastic satirical lyrics (esp. the che guevara car).
nifty chord changes too, I'll have to try and figure those out.
Harrisonesque guitar solo is genius. (both the tone and the notes)
downloaded... this one is good for many listens!

I tend to use more interesting chords when I write on the piano. Glad you liked the tune!

I see your latest tune is about Lost... you might like the Heroin_Mary's on this site. Those guys are a bit too much in to that show.

Anarchy
This sounds like a cut of an album. Clean & snappy, pro pop. R.e mix, nothing to add, 'cept I like it!

I, too, am driven crazy by Madison Ave selling non-conformity. You really nailed that here.

Thanks, John.
It's funny because I'm not a big non-conformist or anything, but I hate the smug attitudes of the kids who buy in to the Hot Topic "I'm such an individual and I hate everything" mentality. I guess I'm just a grump :).

I am such
a big fan of the up on fours beat style. Your writing and playing is tight here. The instrumental mix is good. The one area that can be tweaked is your vocal recording. It's nice and dry here but needs smoothing on the sibilence, etc.

Thanks for the feedback
I had a mix earlier where the "S"'s were coming across really hot. So I backed them down on the EQ and figured it was good enough. A classic case of "better than the last mix is not equal to a 'good' mix". Thanks for the honesty. I'll probably touch it up in the next few days.

anarchy, crushing camels, stealing books
dude this is catchy as hell and witty in an honest and understated way that (ironically) sells the tune. Really like the outtro at 2:10 with the jeremy bassline and the slow build...imo you should let that build and blast out the end instead of slinking away like a che guevera t-shirt wearing hippie.

At home drawing pictures
that's not a bad idea at all. Blast the outro right on out the gate. In case anyone is wondering... I don't have anything against vegan restaurants. It's more the "hip" idea of going veggie. That and all these hip places are replacing all the antique bookstores in downtown Tempe. No relation...

fab
terrific song writing. Flavors of XTC and the Beatles. It all works. The outtro part was my fav. Agree with Craig, it can stretch there and it would be sweet.

I was gonna tease 5 Extra Arms on the logo, saying that now that Saturn doesn't need it etc..:-), but that may be part of the inside humor. Plus someday I'm probably gonna hit him up for some tea shirts..lol

Saturn
I drive a Saturn that has easily taken 10 years off my life and thousands out of my wallet. When Saturn announced they were threw I was excited. When I asked him to do a logo for me he used that conversation and tilted their original logo to make an "A". That 5EA is a clever kitty.

Really lovely song
and I am getting a very strong feeling that this was a real band playing live in a studio and I was privileged to be present and listening. Very intimate mix that just sounds so right.
Downloaded. Thanks.

Great Sound/Great Logo
You know they say the bands with the greatest art are indeed the greatest bands... Just ask the artist that plays bass and designs the logos for our band.

Killer track Eric. If you were in my band, I'd let you sing and play guitar.

(Vocal) Timmmmmbbbbbre!
Timmmmmbbbbbre! You grabbed my attention with the first vocal note, which rings so well. Sounds like you're double-tracking thelead vox -- it's got a more natural sound than all the digital chorus, delay or flange FX. The music, too... it's as clean as a whistle, just the right touch of grit on those instruments. I'm so glad I FINALLY am getting to my "fave" e-mails. This one's a gem that I have to DL.

On the aforementioned Beatles thread running through the coments, I hear the aforementioned sensibility. And while I'm mainly ignorant to lyrics, focusing mostly on guitars, I can't help adding that you seem to capture a taste of McCartney's observational storytelling, Lennon's delivery and Harrison's sarcasm (from Sue Me, Sue You Blues to his references to the FTSE on his last album, Brainwashed.)

chorus
I did double track the chorus. With a virtually endless supply of tracks, it's just easier than doing delay or chorus. I'm really lazy :). Beatles comparisons are always welcome :). Thanks!

witty lyrics
rebellion as commodity, we all know what it mean and still buying it. Thanks to your pop approach, it doesn't turn into a protest-song, but just into a clever tune.

Lennon714 said 9 days ago (November 12th, 2009)
I'm too lazy
to protest it. I'll just smugly write songs about it and then go about being guilty of some of the same garbage. Thanks for stopping by and congrats on the book!
