Futatsu (japanese word for 2)
char asked a good question: "what is an open fifth?" i first answered with rye humour about whiskey in a flask. however, now i have decided to answer her question with an example. an open fifth is two notes, 4 steps apart on the scale, for example, A and E. open fifths are often frowned upon, because they create an ambiguous harmony, neither major nor minor. they are missing the middle note to make a triad.
i had an idea for a personal challenge. can music be made with two notes? only open fifths? i chose an arpeggio of an open fifth. i repeat it at different speeds, in different voices, and sometimes different keys. but it is always an open fifth. it is simple music, with a simple purpose, from a simple mind.

The sounds prove it, and it turned out to be quite interesting and pretty. Teaching by example works for me. thanks for the lesson my friend,
