i was just thinking...
beauty in the chaos. what I was thinking on those wicked chords here, was something along the lines of carlos alimar back in some of the older bowie albums. very cool.

Thanks Vic -
I was a big fan of Alimar and Manzanera - then throw in Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd and that's my whole story.

Love the subtle nuances!
Have you ever thought of a collab with Tim (Egobandit)? Could work a treat. I can definitely hear a Bowie band influence - more like Tin Machine perhaps.

An update on archetypes.
One of your first choices was a good one to groove on: On drums, You've brought the Bohnham beat up to date with a little Flaming Lips distortion. Those sharp guitars -- the angular leads, the octaves on rhythm, connect with my pet fetish for early XTC and Gang of Four before the former went smooth and the latter went dance. No wonder you're one of my favorites here, KJ.

Good ears Bob
That's exactly what I did. Started with drums thinking just that - Bonham meets Flaming Lips - been listening to their latest with great distorted drums. Also a big XTC & G4 fan. Drums - rhythm guitar - then lead guitar - then bass recorded with lead guitar muted. Wanted to increase the random factor between lead and bass. Kinda lose focus at the end though.

2 hours
so well spent. Love the immediacy and intensity and the fact it dives right in and hangs for the ride. Sometimes if I'm lucky enough to have a creative surge like this, I feel like I re booted. Anythings possible when we don't think but do. Hey maybe that should be my quote ..lol

Thanks man
s0metimes I feel really far from my instruments and just have to see what's there without making a big deal out of it. I also miss playing live - so this is the next best thing if I work really fast.

I love
Neil's comment: "Love the subtle nuances!" ... Oh, sure. Now I can scrape my brains off the ceiling. Yeh. Go with EgoBandit and the world will never be the same. "...and shamelessly he walked the earth..." You really test the boundaries, Bud.

Tim is such a complete master of his world
don't know if I could keep up. Though we have done a thing or two listed in my collabs.
As for the nuances - Neil has such a finely tuned ear.

Verlaine and Lloyd jam with Crazy Horse...
Doesn't this just kick along?

Tell ya, Kevin, this sounds an awful lot like a bunch of jams I experienced in my twenties... especially the ending....

Feels good....

This makes me
wish I was a smoker. I think you'd look cool listening to this and solemnly taking a drag. That in mind, I love this track. It reminds me I don't have to fret over putting a melody on something. I just need to shut up and rock. You do the chaotic rocker better than anyone on MJ.

Unbridled ruction!
(And I mean that in the best possible way).

I think a jam HAS to fall apart at the end; and if it doesn't fall apart it's a SONG.

I sure like noise.

Thank you.

yep, that's a guitar
love that bass melody that kicks in over top of the choppy chords around 21 secs. also love that little solo around 1:09. you cite neil young now and again as an influence but he's rarely that melodic. same goes for soloing out around 1:50. F'ing great man, and I normally don't use the tough guy vernacular.

That thing at 21 seconds was me finally
figuring out how to use that octave lead thing that metal players do on guitar. My big discovery of the week. Expect to hear it all the time now. haha. Thanks for the enthusiasm - hope you don't get in trouble with your mama.

Classic heavy sound in the backing guitar. The lead guitar sounds almost Neil Young-ish. Slam, bam, thank you mam.

on a good day
i remember back in the day when i used to jam with friends that some days it was fantastic and other days it sucked. we could never figure out why that was. i chalked it up to humidity or barometric pressure: some days we could never get all in tune at the same time. the visual signals worked sometimes, or else went badly awry. who knows why?

anyway, this is like one of the good days!

thanks
