Description
My Missus got a Nintendo DS for her birthday with Dr. Kawashima's brain training game which, after a short period, we managed to get our brain ages down to 20..so we bought the next level game and have been struggling to get anywhere with it. I managed to turn my frustration into a song about not feeling like I was getting anywhere.
I tried to keep a sort of computer game music feel to it.
Just a bit of fun on these dark winter days
Hope you like it.

Lyrics
Dr. Kawashima
You really make me sad
I tried to do your training
and it nearly drove me mad

oh no, Dr. Kawashima

My brain age never seemed to go
below my actual years
and the graph that shows my progress
is peppered with my tears

oh no, Dr. Kawashima

You said the tests were meant to help
my upper frontal cortex
But the tiny space between my ears
is resembling a vortex

oh no, Dr. Kawashima
Dr. Kawashima

I tried to recall all the words
and numbers on the chart
but frankly Dr. Kawashima
I haven’t got the heart

oh no, Dr. Kawashima
Dr. Kawashima

I feel an utter failure
My score is close to zero
I’m jacking in the training
to go play guitar hero

Dr. Kawashima
Goodbye, Dr.Kawashima

Kanji Feter
That's thank you in Japanese.

Just waiting for NIntendo to buy the rights...or sue my ass ;-)

My brain age :(
Lots of fun KB. Really like the backing music - and the vocal has a kind of Brian Ferry feel at times.
Nice one!

Your musical age is 7!
Brilliant! Really enjoyed that. It reminded me a bit of Hawkwind in their Quark Strangeness and Charm phase - you've definitely got some of that Robert Calvert humour going on. Very witty lyrics and a great little tune. What more can you ask for?!

The Dr.
I am not a gamer and my brain age is 51, nevertheless this is a very catchy tune! The intro catches your attention immediately, I needed to look up what the heck is Dr.Kawashima so I could comment. The lyrics make sense now, and they are very funny.

non-gamers
I was worried people might not get this as not everyone plays nintendo DS ( I didn't till a few months ago)..and the damn thing's got me hooked in it's evil grip ;-)
Thanks for taking the trouble to find out what the hell it was I was singing about.
Glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in

I find writing music
to be much more fun than playing games. Especially if the games insult me.

Fun song.

Frickin' hilarious
And oh so smart at the same time. The lyrics are very brilliant! Liked every line. And the guitar solo at the end is a killer. Thanks for sharing this one. I've been waiting for another Kingbee classic and you did not disappoint!

Hey Jay
Glad you could drop in.
The guitar solo is a right mess..but seemed to work.
It's amazing what you can do if you stick a load of distortion on it ;-)
Glad you liked it and it tickled you
Thank you
cheers

clever
really good feel musically, love the stops...the lyrics...how about a bridge with some SFX from the game itself? i'm sure kawashima's gold is one of the levels in medal of honour for playstation 2.
looking forward to seeing you with Len.

No good at guitar hero either...
...plus my 4 year old son regularly beats me a Mario Kart Wii not sure what that says about my brain age but it's probably not encouraging.

Enjoyed listening - wasn't expecting humour, you look so serious in your photo - really well put together, witty lyrics and strong performance.

KK

PS - perhaps it's the '80s vibe but I'm getting a little bit of Kelly Marie 'Feels like I'm in love' but I probably shouldn't admit to that!

Rumbled
I was aware of the slight resemblance to Feels like I'm in love ( written by Mungo Jerry BTW) but hoped no-one would notice. Now I'm going to be sued by Nintendo..AND Mungo Jerry.
Regarding serious photo I was going to set up an alter ego so I could put more 'humerous stuff up but didn't want to confuse things.
I'm not sure I'm that good on guitar hero..but it's just a bit more encouraging when I make a hash of it ;-)
Anyway, thanks for dropping in and your comments
cheers

Blimey I love this place for the sheer originality of the songs i keep finding, Simon "arse face" Cowell would no doubt hate it but thats his loss. Great little , witty tune. Will come back for more

man i love the groove, the rambling piano lead and the club percussion. probably told you this before but you remind me of the chills. cool concept. i've never played that game but i'm addicted to racing simulators so i understand the obsession. love the "you rock!" refrain at the end. solo shreds too.

Thanks Tempie
I haven't heard the chills but will check them out.
I don;t think they do racing games for the DS lite..and am already spending way too much time trying to get Dr. Kawashima's approval or at least my brain age to get lower ;-)
Glad you liked the solo.
I just let it rip as I have no idea how to do a 'proper' guitar solo ;-)
Thanks for your comments and for dropping in

really funny
This is really funny. I liked this a lot. Small critique: I would try arranging it differently with the guitar solo before the last verse and then with the guitar solo maybe put some quotes from the doctor. It'd be cool if he had a voice over part there and might give more insight to people who don't know what the game is.
cheers

Thanks Jason
It was a bit of a 'rush' job.
I've been spending way too long on other songs and wanted to do something (fairly) quickly and to cheer people up (myself included)
I kept thinking of chopping out bits and re-arranging it but didn't want my procrastination to get in the way ;-)
anyway, glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in
cheers
