Tell me (feat. ia)

Description
Something I've been meaning to try for sometime: a slice of generic, infectious dance/Electropop/Europop- perhaps something for my daughters (or someone) to sing for "Lillamelodifestivalen 2010" .. with some *ahem* lyrical changes. The lyrics are of that calibre (.22 I think) ;o)

Marks the start of my 4th album/iTunes collection: "Living beyond your wildest means".

Features: "ia" (on backing vox). (Hey if P. Diddy can have feat. Christina Algae-lera I can ask my g/f to help out too from time to time).

Enjoy! Was lots of fun for a guitarist (who can't dance btw) to try something so synthy and dancy.

Lyrics
I find it hard to see,
That you'd be interested in me.
But I must take a chance,
To find a new romance.

Thinking of my love contained,
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

But when I saw you today,
I just had to say:

Tell me,
How about it,
You and me.
Go out together/Meet up on Saturday?

You standing close to me,
I'm leaning towards you, awkwardly.
But you look into my eyes,
I wonder if that was wise.

I wake up next to you,
An' I have so much to do,
An' your just lying there,
Underwear, everywhere.

S'good
.. to leave the comfort of your more usual genre .. and try something a bit more left field .. not panning wise .. but you know what I mean :o)
I was almost going to label it "Swedish mix" .. perhaps http://www.towermusic.se could do it better?

Depeche Mode
meets the dance floor. Very well done vocals. Great mix. Enjoyed it. The only suggestion would be to bump the vox up a bit. Great job!

Funny..
.. you mentioned Depeche Mode .. I recently attempted a cover of "just can't get enough" .. never posted it .. was for a giggle for a friend of mine, nothing serious... but, prolly subliminally worn off a bit on
me. Thanks for the heads up on the vocal mix .. always time for some more tweaking in my book.

ooh Alan!!!! you synthy dance-tune guy! this will be stuck in my head all day - which in my book means it's wildly successful. totally catchy tune, i like the effects you've got going - great job Alan! you should do more of this!

Thanks Karen

hopefully not too annoyingly catchy. Lots of blended synths from F8 and Absynth, Camelspace plug-ins herein... not much GB midi/loops (just some of the drums). If I try this thing again .. I might try to reduce the Euro-ness of it .. hmm .. how does one do that?? lol

Underwear everywhere
Simple and sweet, light footed and fund. Can't go wrong with a boy meets girl concept like this. Love the last line; would be sad to edit that out.

long time no see. Congrats on the success of your latest CD.

I was trying to keep the lyrics genderless too: so they could be role reversed and my parts sung by a female. Due to popular demand, I'll keep the last line :o)

Well ..
.. you may have set out to produce generic Europop, but you achieved quite a bit more. Nice gentle melody with lots of interesting textures. More 80's retro coupled with The Rentals style electrorock. Your g/f's voice adds so much to this tune man, lends it a real soft and contemporary kick.
Great work man.

glad to see you around the jams again! Hopefully a little more often now .. how's things? Your prolly right about the genre thing .. I tend to just think "dance music"... and I empathise with the leg thing .. though it's more my back and teeth these days :o) Thanks for stopping by.

some fun. I still wanting to tackle that "new out with vox" demo you sent me ages ago. I'll send you a mail with it in it, see what became of it.

Wow...
this smacks you right between the ears with that beat man... Excellent... I could not stop the foot from tapping ... I looked like an idiot sitting there at the restaurant table, headphones on, chin bobbing, foot tapping on the upbeats... I got 86ed... rather quickly but man I enjoyed the tune in a big way! So much so I went back to my hotel hungry to listen again!

Really?
.. I think it's still got a fair bit to go: have a listen to some of this studios work: http://www.towermusic.se - that's very pro and I'm not there by a long shot, but the encouragement is appreciated all the same. Will be away snow-boarding until the beginning of Feb .. so I'll get our collab sorted when I return (still in the MJRF time-frame).. (he hopes).

Indeed!
.. funny thing is, apart from the drums (as usual) it's alot of midi instruments: left-hand pumping (as kallocain mentioned above) .. I played a small bit .. then repeated the part played with many, many different FM Synths... well at least 3. lol. Was lots of fun .. have you tried a "dance" synthy number at all Neil? Thanks for the listen.
