Description
I rescovered this thing from three years ago. Recorded the same day and session as 'Lime Green Thoddi' and 'More Lime' which I have posted here and which still are in my list.

Great to see you back Johannes!
I've really missed listening to your new posts here at MJ, and this has reminded me why. Maybe if you don't have an earlier piece to post for the festival, you might add "(MJRF)" to the title here and the Festival Admin might accept it as a "wildcard entry" like they have in the Grand Slam Tennis :)
Wonderful music, beautifully played - so good you're here.

Warm sounds
I hope it is as immensely satisfying to sit and play music like this for yourself as it is for us to hear it. I feel like I could sit in a comfortable chair and just listen to you play for hours.

Many thanks!
Doug

glad to hear your positive response .. especially since i know that you like the acoustic recordings of guitar so much more than these lined ones .. and you are fully right there, the acoustic ones are so much richer, only so much more cumbersome to produce

Curry sounds...
rising up from the strings of his guitar. Some delicate, melodic music you have made in this song. It is very pleasant and, as usual, perfectly played.

Good to hear such good things.

what a clear and warm
acoustic guitar sound--I love what you're able to achieve here! And this piece has a strong melodic arc and a comprehensible but interesting structure--really nice!

Talk about people I've missed...
...around this place....

You were (and are) one of the people who MADE my experience here on MacJams so deep, Johannes... I've missed your presence 'round the place...

Heck of a thing, when a fellow decides that he prefers "the real world"... What's THAT gonna get you, huh?

This sounds great. Is this the nylon string guitar through the Yamaha pedal? I seem to recall you were playing with that combination back then...

I continue to enjoy and admire your ability to improvise in three dimensions, and your excellent command of tone and phrase...

Ed

Ed
thanks a lot for your support Ed .. it is a fantastic thing to realize that we have "known" each other for five years soon .. yet not met irl, but it's gonna come, i really think so, or feel .. i'd like to thank you specially for all the feedback you have given through these years, you have given me lot of insightful perspective upon my musical journey .. you come up with formulations which i would never have been able to find out myself .. like now, you say 'ability to improvise in three dimensions', i just bow and hope to be able to keep living up to that ..

and yes, it is this the nylon string guitar through the Yamaha pedal, though with the strange John Pearse strings instead of nylons

Nearly Perfect
I am truly blown away. This piece is expertly composed. The harmony rich, the melody sweet. And the open bass strings have a round low end to them so good that I rarely hear it from an acoustic guitar. Because the composition, performance, and production are so much better than anything I have ever done (I really can't play that well) I am reluctant to criticize anything. However I did notice one thing that is the difference between "nearly perfect" and "grammy record quality". Some of the notes in the melody (just a few of them) jump out too far - too loud or too much treble or popping off the fretboard I'm not sure. I suspect that it is the result of very minor irregularities in your playing (which again is better than I could hope to attain) that just happens to be accentuated too much by the EQ. But I'm reluctant to touch your EQ because you have such a beautiful low end. I only make this criticism because you are so mindblowingly good, and I think you are only one step from being professional virtuoso quality.

Kind and steady
Such a warm, timeless, comforting performance. Worthy of many listens. If there are flaws (notes that jump out, a few rushed notes), they merely remind me there is a human being playing, which makes me enjoy the piece all the more, enabling me to visualize someone playing, someone of great heart and dedication. There is loyalty to this performance that is kind and steady. Thanks for sharing this.
