Lyrics
FINE LOVE

I told you baby, I told you true
There isn’t a thing I wouldn’t do
I’d follow you girl to the end of the world
Just to be with you

I told you baby I like your style
When you’re beside me I can’t help but smile
I know that this feeling won’t change
‘Cause I don’t want it to

It’s a fine love showering down
Start with a little and spread it around
It’s easy to see you and me this way for a lifetime
And should we stumble, should we fall
We’ll have each other to get through it all
And these are the days I’ll recall all my life

I love each morning, welcome the day
With you beside me to show me the way
And here in your arms I will stay for a lifetime

Two hearts together, beating as one
Lifelong endeavor with so much to come
I’ll follow you into the sun
And then we’ll fade away

It’s a fine love showering down
Start with a little and spread it around
It’s easy to see you and me this way for a lifetime
And should we stumble, should we fall
We’ll have each other to get through it all
And these are the days I’ll recall all my life

And if we ever have to cry a tear
Our lasting love will make it disappear

It’s a fine love showering down
Start with a little and spread it around
And these are the days I’ll recall all my life

It’s a fine love
It’s a very fine love

wow
what a great sound - late 70's, early 80's adult radio pop, perfect to the note. love those strings, and the perfect harmonies.

Lovely melody. Really nicely sung and produced. Love the "he sings, she sings" duet structure.Your voices blend so well together.
Love the bridge (Everly Bros). Very pro sounding track.

Where have I been
This song is like silk over satin. Your voices are individually so rich and then together they are truly enchanting. You've kept the backup orchestration tastefully minimal and that brings your vocal intimacy to the foreground. That's admirable restraint since it would be easy to really overproduce this number (for me anyway :)

A lovely kick back ballad that is now a happy resident on my iTunes.

Thanks Anne and Bob. I can't wait for more.....

Be well,
Doug

What a smooth vocal duo!
You two sound terrific together--and your phrasing is beautifully organic and human. Very nicely done. Strings, drums, etc., are genre-appropriate and well-executed, although my personal preference would be toward something a little rougher-hewn. At any rate, I'm very impressed!

Sell this one...
...to Mary-Chapin Carpenter for her next duet...

And then get the Everly Brothers to make up (again) and give it a try...

My one tiny suggestion is in the phrasing of the opening of the lyric... I'd suggest changing that 'a' in the second line to 'one' or even try to squeeze in 'any' so an accent doesn't land on a weak word....

I can certainly hear this getting people weepy on a country station....

Friendly vocals
Vocals make me think of friends breaking out into song while walking through a park, so easy and human and unaltered. In my ears, the drum track works against this, from the opening rather random cymbal roll to the snare that seems too much like a tinny drum-machine. Consider a version with no drums, so that the friendly nature of the performance can sit simply and congruently alongside the lyrics and story. Thanks for sharing this fine love.

Love the lyrics, vocals, harmony, melody, chord changes, everything. Songs like this make it easy to see why we don't listen to the radio anymore.
