Description
While on vacation in the UK I heard Alex Weiler's song The Glitch

I liked the song very much and I asked if he would mind if I tried a de/reconstructive mix
He sent me the logic file and here is what I did
Thanks Alex!

This mix contains elements from Alex's original Logic file
Vocals - Robert Shaw
Bass and extra glitschen - PD

An electronics glitch is an undesired transition that occur before the signal settles to its intended value. In other words, glitch is an electrical pulse of short duration that is usually the result of a fault or design error, particularly in a digital circuit. For example, many electronic components such as flip-flops are triggered by a pulse that must not be shorter than a specified minimum duration, otherwise the component may malfunction. A pulse shorter than the specified minimum is called a glitch. A related concept is the runt pulse, a pulse whose amplitude is smaller than the minimum level specified for correct operation, and a spike, a short pulse similar to a glitch but often caused by ringing or crosstalk. A glitch can occur in the presence of race condition in a poorly designed digital logic circuit.

the things we find in chat...
...are so very often the BEST.

The choice of sounds -- the mix, the PACING...the beat. I'm chatting with you now, particledots, and am amazed at the processed vocal on this. Truly masterful!

Terrific work
I loved the pads even more when told they are very nicely effected real vocals. Marvelous minimalism in the second section. Really good stuff!

glitch - transition from negative to the positive
the negative connotation of glitch is turned on its head masterfully here. A grand rhythmic steamroller pushes up a cloud of sound. The dust in the second half floats back to earth through rays of sunshine in an abbey. WunderGlitch!

glitschen
wow - i had no idea "glitch" had an actual, specific meaning in electronics. there seems to be nothing at all glitchy about this though - what a COOL de/reconstructive mix bryn - this is captivating and one of those songs i know i'll revisit many times to hear all the nuanced um, glitches, that you had your way with. congrats to you both!

Very cool
I'll have to go listen to the original, but given the specific definition of a glitch presented, it's astounding how you put all those "mistakes" together. The time you spend on your mixes is always evident.

Grossartig geglitscht!
Hey Bryn,
Great deconstruction / remix you've done here; great fun to listen to the result, which could easily be a Massive Attack creation. I love the bass parts (which are often kinda "underdeveloped" in my tracks). Brainy: the implementation of the "electronics glitch" idea. Why not come together for a future collab or remix ..?

Thanks!
Alex

Untainted
Excellent slow build, I'm loving that growling bass sound. Very well structured and mixed. Is that a deliberate hint of Soft Cell's version of Tainted Love in there?

I love
those low tech sounds in there. There also seems to be some very tasty automation of simple plugins. Your approach here is very very nice, and makes the kind of project I would tweak forever without ever posting it! Glad you are able to tie it all up. A definite download.

a sweet remix
I like how the song stutters along with a lot of headroom for imagination. a sweet ending, a true PD track. Professional, well thought out and very solid execution of code and emotions.

Oh this good - this is why headphones
were invented. That bass is so perfectly modulated and volumed (a word?) - and the rest of the piece is just incredible. Having enjoyed the original I'm amazed at what you've done here.

I like dark electronic music. This is not too dark but just moody enough. Vocals? What vocals? This is just wonderful.
