Description
Okay, this is my SECOND attempt to use the Abbey Road drums plug-in. Hope you all enjoy it somewhat better than my "drumming" on the last post...

Lyrics
It’s been too long since we’ve talked now, Kate
The kids are liking their big move upstate
They painted their new bunk red
And we all sing along to what the guru said: he said

Life—is a terminal disease
Thoughts—go through you like the breeze
I don't know if he is sacred or just profound
But when he talks I like that sound

The rhythm of the work it suits me fine
Back then I never knew where to draw the line
Now I’m off at six but home by three
And every day the kids know exactly where I’ll be

Life—is a terminal disease
Thoughts—go through you like the breeze
I don't know if he is sacred or just profound
But when he talks I like that sound

Don’t go playing your game of I Spy
Don’t try
Our server has no fixed address
Oh yes
When I said we were living upstate
I didn’t say which state

I can see you now the way you used to be
In the bed watching satellite TV
I knew I was meant for something more
I used to be a searcher, but I’m not searching anymore

Life—is a terminal disease
Thoughts—go through you like the breeze
I don't know if he is sacred or just profound
But when he talks I like that sound

Life Is a Terminal Disease
I like the picked guitar, simple clean, and pretty. Vocals and harmonies sound great, some really nice phrasing here.

A Nice Song
Sometimes a song is just a nice song. This is one of them. The harmonies are excellent. The guitar performance and tone are great. The overall mix is also well done. And I'm glad you used the Abbey Road drums. They gave the song a nice authentic feel. Great job.
Thanks Mike

Existential lost boys
I really like the verses in this song. Wonderful guitar and really nice lead vocals and good drumming on the verses (simple and clean). I enjoyed the idea and hope you will continue to work on this to make it hang together better. My ears found several incongruities that interrupted the flow. For example, when your first chorus kicks in, it hit me as sudden; maybe drop snare hits on the downbeat and use more rolls, to soften the edges a bit, like a marching band or a hillbilly shuffle (it might go together with the guru's philosophy better?); or, else use a fill to lead up to the initial hit that sets up the accents. Also, I usually really like bridges that alter the mood, that add a new layer of concept and story to a song; but the almost synth like drilling sound shifted the sonic mood perhaps too far for me, into another song. Then the song just ends, as if you hadn't gotten to that part of the arrangement. Also, throughout, I'd tighten up the backing vocals.

The lyrics also had nice potential but then didn't quite hold together in my first listening. (They worked better on my second listen.) For example, the first verses talk about you and your family, in first person, and set up a post-modern pastoral thing that is cool. Then the bridge implies Kate is trying to find you, which could add all these story line complications, but I was frustrated at not really knowing if you'd stolen the kids, if they are her kids too, etc.; it opened doors that didn't lead to places that might make the story become fuller.

However, I like this song. Just trying to give you my first impressions. I'm a fan you your work. And I think this whole concept has more potential you could mine, a really interesting idea.

Another
Great song. This has a strange sentiment lyrically and that makes it a personal favorite. You are a little darker than you let on. Almost Bowie but mostly Michael Koppenheffer.

used to be a searcher
really like the chorus, the way it kicks in with all that snare, very cool. playing is really pretty too, love how i can hear each note distinctly. really like the lines 'out at 6 home by 3/kids know where i'll be' and 'used to be a searcher but i'm not searching anymore'. now the picky part, i normally flip over your creative incongruities but i don't like the ISpy break - the song is too pretty without it. Do like the lead under the last chorus a lot though - sonically really interesting.

Your lyrics are always so interesting, original and unpredictible. Love the guitar work in this...and the strings. Not sure the drums are locking in yet. Think I'm with Tempie about big guitar on the bridge. The strength of the song and your singing always pull me in.

Disease
The vibe and meaning of this song are great. Love the picked guitar as well. Really nice clean sound. The harmonies are nice too. Nice enough I'd love to know why you went with the unison sound for the chorus. The "I like that sound" harmony adds so much. I feel like it would add just as much on the "Life is..." line. Just my 2 cents. Either way, beautiful sound and engineering work.

Searcher
I hope you keep searching man. Beautiful tune.
Drums are still fighting, like a wild horse, hard to handle, but it's getting better each time.

another immaculately produced creation. elements of this are very commercial - i don't know how you feel about that. so who's this kate chick? is she hot? does she exist beyond the need for a rhyme? your voice continues to leave me wishing i had a voice like michael koppenheffer. going to listen to your new one now.

Drums
Ok, I think I like the other version better. You're a great guitarist, but your drumming is not at that level. The drums during the chorus are more disruptive than supportive.

The bass and strings are fine; if you want to make a more elaborate arrangement than just voice and guitar, consider using that sort of elements, but going easy on the drums. The synth that comes in after the 2:00 mark feels like you were thinking "let's see, what more can I add". I didn't feel it necessary.
