Raining Every Day

Description
It's actually been snowing every day.

I was rather conflicted with this tune. It's quite long, but I don't know if it seems too long. I wanted to take a verse and chorus out, but it changed the structure of the song too much. As the writer I wanted all the verses to be included. Sort of a director's cut. I'm sure a producer would chop this up. But screw it! I can do anything I want here. We're not getting paid anyway.

This song is the first new song I have posted since mid October, Googolplex Times Zero. I've done two others for this year so far. I hope I have time to do a bunch more.

Enjoy,

Dave

Lyrics
Raining Every Day

Raining every day makes the sun so cold
Running even faster down this endless road
Stopping, you are stopping, but you can’t turn back
Colors you are flying are turning black

You can see it going down
Shifting things and turning ‘round and ‘round and ‘round
Who’s to blame for what has come?
What you did and what have you become?

Raining every day makes the sun so cold
Running even faster down this endless road
Stopping, you are stopping, but you can’t turn back
Colors you are flying are turning black

You can’t hear, but you can feel
What you are hiding can never be revealed
What is lost is gone for good
They tell you now it’s never understood

Raining every day makes the sun so cold
Running even faster down this endless road
Stopping, you are stopping, but you can’t turn back
Colors you are flying are turning black

Don’t look down or you’ll fall
Walking straight with your shadow on the wall
If you leap no one will know
What’s above and could lurk below

Raining every day makes the sun so cold
Running even faster down this endless road
Stopping, you are stopping, but you can’t turn back
Colors you are flying are turning black

Hearing voices (from) fading dreams
You can’t find all the secrets and what it means to me
Bracing now for the storm
You’re a brilliant man, but what were you before

Raining every day makes the sun so cold
Running even faster down this endless road
Stopping, you are stopping, but you can’t turn back
Colors you are flying are turning black

Not much to change
Here. A solid song which moves a long well. I like the change of vocal style between the chorus and verse. The only thing I would be tempted to change would be the synth string pad to an organ sound an old vox, perhaps. Bring the stings later in the verses.

Dave...
You as the artist should never worry about what a producer would do. You should always write the song the way it feels.

I listened to all 7 minutes and enjoyed single one. Your vocals on this are really great!

Some may bristle at the length of this...
but I won't. I love long tunes! As for producers. I feel much the same way about them as I do lawyers. Ha ha...

I like the lyrics, and am glad you didn't drop any of the verses. The music is moody, and yet strangely comforting. Vox is nice throughout.

Perhaps not "radio friendly." But certainly a nice "album" track.

Be well bro!

Raining everyday
Grooving track, Dave!
I like that it has a rainy (almost dark) feel to it, steady and balanced thats probabaly due to the great mix and the smooth chorus vox. The outro works well
Another fine LL Tune!

Outro ? Does it remind you of of intro you might know. The two song mesh together so well. I've been having this album thought going on lately. I might be 10 years too late though. I guess the album concept has been dying out :(

Glad you liked this LL tune.

Raining
Very nice track Dave! I was surprised that it's over 7 min.- didn't seem that long of a song to me. The VOX at the end with the FX were a bit hard to hear, but maybe that's the effect you were wanting as a fade out.

woot!
the raining everyday part is super, especially the guitar walk down at the end of every line. It just sounds so pleasing. The phrasing of those particular parts of the song are just great... Is that the chorus? starting a song with the chorus is a neat touch and sucks you straight in with the good stuff immediately.
The verses are a nice change of pace which make the chorus all the more satisfying.
Nice one

I love
the attitude in your description , Every time I write a song I say the same thing Im going to do anything I want because Im not getting paid, and the music is for me. I like the bass in thisand the breaks in the chorus part very well thought out. This is one of your best in my book I like that its long keeps the "I want more" at bay. Nice way to end it, tops!

hey john doe
i dig that deep deep chorus. a cool unexpected twist, made me smile. I also like the structure of the verse, the little bridge/turnaround after each stanza. the verse has a great groove that crashes into the chorus in a really moody way, not exactly what i'm trying to say but i really like the tune, its got that cool 80's bowie vibe, where he wants us to dance but it's seriously business.

If
you ever try to shorten it again you might try just to take the beginning and ending chorus out. I think it's fine the way it is though. It has a David Bowie feel to it. I really like the ending. Great song David.

I hope you
have time to do a bunch more, too. I love you kept it as is. I know I get caught up in the land of "is this song appealing enough" idea. Great swelling keys. I also like the subtle guitar leads. Solid vox on this too. You sound like... damn... what's his name... the singer from Wax. One of my favorite bands. Anyway, thanks for shaking me awake and getting be back to the music.
