Description
Hallo everyone! I am quite new on Mac Jams and like a lot what people here do and share. So after a time having my profile I take the first step with my contribution. I hope its gonna bring some joy to any of you. I would also be glad for any comments or suggestions. Thanks!
I got the idea to this song many years ago when I used to stay in France and I would play it to me every time once in a while. I have been staying in New York now for the last year and within the last month made the fingerstyle arrangement to it ... so when I was looking for the title I thought that Pilgrim is the best as it is a piece that found its way through different cities, had been with me for many years and has a sort of wandering feel in it. I am styl thinking to add some decent guitar licks in the middle part, which seems a bit empty to me ... so I leave it as a work in progress for now. ENJOY!

Welcome to Macjams
Very nice work here... funny, the very beginning orchestration made me think of A. Dvorak for some reason, then I "checked" your profile :-) Very gentle touches on everything, you chose really nice instruments throughout. I might lower the guitar volume very slightly at 1:13, or crescendo toward it so it is not so sudden. Otherwise, gentle and elegant, very nice!

A.Dvorak ...
That put really a smile on my face ... guess I cannot hide my origins :-)Anyway thanks a lot for commenting. Youre right with the guitar, it is a bit sudden. I did not really spend much time on the mix, neither did any mastering as I still intend to do a little changes to the whole thing. Thanks a lot!

Pilgrim
Very peaceful and relaxing. This would be great to meditate to. Good complementary instruments, and the mix is well balanced and separated. I like the fingerstyle guitar - Is that played live or midi? If live that's an exceptionally clean performance.

fingerstyle
Well to tell truth I am a guitarist to the bone. So do not expect any of my guitar tracks to be midi :-) In fact I cannot even play a piano so all the other instruments are just computer mouse work. Thanks for commnting.

Very nice first post. Very relaxing piece; excellent guitar work, although I thought the guitar sounded over compressed - not really sure. Great performances throughout and your musical arrangement is well put together. I enjoyed this and will look forward to hearing more from you in the near future - thanks!

mouse
Oh yes! Normally I use the Roland GR20 guitar synthesizer, but I left it at home in Prague while I am now in NY. So its all just a guitar and hand on the mouse :-)Thanks for commenting!

Very cool
love all the sounds going on. Almost like a giant music box going with hundreds of figurines. Very cool effects and remarkably well mixed, not even considering it is your first post. Nice work on this one.

giant music box
Nice comment, thank you. You are right, sometimes I feel the arrangements I do using but computer mouse tend to sound a bit mechanical ... it is hard to get some spontaneous feel without really playing a keyboard, I am glad you liked it.

Thanks, I appreciate your comment. And yes stories about songs are so important. Sometimes I feel like the compositions come to me just according to the way I live, so it is better to be patient and careful to get the right fruits :-)

hi honza...and welcome to macjams. this is an excellent creation. i found the lead guitar a bit too bright for me, but it builds nicely to the lead solo at around 3.40. yes that guitar is very bright. is it an electro acoustic and have you got plugged in directly? i play mine into a mic and it's a bit warmer that way. anyway, well done....and i look forward to hearing more of your music soon. julian

guitar
Hi Julian and thanks for nice comment. Well the guitar I am using is actually 1OO% electric, it is the three voice godin with piezzo and midi pickups. I just run it directly into my PC and than use some guitar rig settings. I am planning to use a real acoustic with mic later in case I would release the song so this is more some sort of a demo. Now I am just travelling so do have only the one gutar with me. Anyway, thanks a lot for stopping by, I am glad you enjoyed.

Not many
get such attention on their first song on MacJams, but this is really worth it! Great piece of music in just my style. Oldfield comes to mind, of course, perhaps even more so on your second post. I also thought of our Swedish Björn J:son Lindh with guitarist Janne Schaffer. Very nice arrangements and mixes on these first two songs. I am sure looking forward to more, I'm a fan already :-) So, welcome to MJ and may your stay be long and prosperous.

/Henke

I'm glad I decided to listen to this piece of yours - this reminds me of j.s. bach compositions - the woodwind trills - the build-up - are all nice - really really beautiful - the entire piece . . .
