Description
I normally don't post remixes but since several of yall requested it here it is...a bigger chorus, more all around bite, and more in the line of the mudhoney/tad sound that i was trying to get at to begin with. For those of you not familiar with this tune, here's the original description:

i've been spending a lot of time at the office lately so i've dug pretty deep into my CD collection looking for some variety to help speed the time, and i just happened to take bleach in with me. i had forgotten how good that album is. so i reached for more of that old sub pop stuff, tad and screaming trees etc. man i wish tad was still around. anyway i'd been wanting to do a hard rock tune so those records gave me the excuse. concept-wise i've been thinking about how hard it is to raise a family, i mean i think raising a family is probably the most important thing a human can do, that's the whole point right, continuation of the species and all that, but like any animal when we set out to do that we face all kinds of opposition, all kinds of interference, and sometimes i just want to grab a megaphone, stand on top of my house, and tell the world to back off. this tune is me doing that lol.

The refrain under the solo is of course buck owens.

Lyrics
dog barking
you're trying to talk to me
kid crying
but i'm not listening
let me fix up a drink
i'll try to see it your way
same old argument that
don't mean shit to me anyway
hey
hey

it's only you and me
and the kid in the booster seat
it's only you and me
and the kid in the booster seat
its only you and me
and the kid in the booster seat
and the world can go get bent

you not needing it
(we got all we need right here, right?)
dont' have nothing to do with
(we got all we need right here, right?)
me owing it
(yeah all we need we got right here, right?)
me owing it to you
(all we need we got right here, right?)
so let me fix up a drink
i'll try to see it your way
same old argument that
don't mean shit to me anyway
hey
hey

CHORUS

Loves gonna live here again
loves gonna live hear again
no more loneliness
only happiness
loves gonna live here again

Chunkier..
the guitar stabs are even more awesome. The chorus is fantastic now, and that bloody hihat is gone! Yay! All round improvement on already magnificent song.

a long time ago
when paddy was a wee 'un on his uncle's ranch in rural ireland, he was attacked and gored by a wild, unmixed hihat. even by moving to england and living under the protection of the cctv, he still cannot escape the fear...

"Only You and Me
And the kid in the booster seat"--a classic "cri de coeur" (pardon my English-major French) that I can completely identify with! I hadn't heard version #1 of this but I'm rocking this one in my own personal M St. office. Megaphone's on backorder.

cri de wha?
i don't know - cri de coeur...probably too enthusiastic. I was thinking more along the lines of a heideggerian mix of let's see...possibility and despair.

REALLY liking your new tune...

Sounds Great
It's actually pretty cool I got to hear this again. I still think that renup at about 3:18 is wild.

Good one!

That's some hard rocking s**t amigo! Lots of nice guitar in there, just the way I likes it!
Funny, I never got around to hearing Tad, although I did listen to all the other stuff you mentioned. I should check out his stuff.

i can see you totally into TAD
man, that stuff is down your alley. "the" tad of TAD is kind of a hillbilly, northwest, rob zombie. i think i'm going to stay hard rocking for a while, so i'll probably write a john denver type tune next, i don't seem to be able to anticipate where i'm ending up from one day to the next. not that it matters...

thick and creamy
without doing a toe to toe compare, this does seem to sound better then i remembered. yeah i think the guitars are more pronounced and balanced nice here. there is a long silence at the end, it timed just right as i typed this.:-)

toe to toe
yeah i think the chorus is stronger in this version. i don't know why that quiet bit tails on the end...that's a pain - must have left some bit of something out there in the GB file. i added some more buzzy guitar to the chorus too.

glad you're still liking it. i had to redo the vox in the chorus, i guess i pulled away from the mic on the other take. i don't know how my producer (Jackson A. Dawg) allowed me to do that. english setters, they all have a tin ear.

Gritty
.. just when I thought it couldn't get any grittier... came the extra guitar at 3:41 .. perhaps a tad hot in the mix + seems there's over a minute of silence at the end you might want to remove (noones mentioned so far).

Production nits aside, the lyrics and mood carry this home .. catchy chorus too. Arrangement wise I also thought occassionally removing the bass drums at the gap pre-chorus could be an effective variation. Well done.

missed
the first version so wont compare. First off i dig the vocals, the backing vocals are adding so much here and working great with the lead. Great idea. The deep fuzzy guitar sounds mean and thick and chugs the song along nicely. Lead guitar is quirky yet spot on.
Good stuff...!
